    Upcoming Vegas trip

I posted this question in the paid subscription section but it didn't really gain any traction (thanks to RCJC, Talmadge and ferenc11 who did answer):

Headed over for a week very soon. Have a copy of CBJN so familiar with the games and what I want to primarily play (DD with DAS at the $25 level - so around 0.40% HE or better if I can get S17). Any places you would recommend NOT trying a $25- $150 spread, given heat etc?

As a caveat, the trip is only a week long and I won't be back for months. So if that means playing sweaty places you wouldn't ordinarily play if you frequent Vegas often, I'm happy to try those too, even if it means being shown the door. Although, I would like to last in a place more than 30 minutes, so I'd like to avoid the places that are absolute no go zones.

Edit: Feel free to PM me.

Even if it means having your face "flyered" to other casinos?

Well, I'd prefer to be able to last the week, so that would mean accepting polite back offs, but not being the subject of having my face plastered across town.

Do you imagine that a 'polite" backoff
does not often result in being 'flyered.'

I can absolutely assure you that even
red chip amateurs get put in O.S.N.

Well, like I said, it's a week long trip where my face won't appear again for months. I'm not as worried as a local Vegas player would be. So I guess my original question remains.

Stay away from dumps and sweat shops like Fiesta Rancho, Texas Station, Suncoast, Rampart, T.I., SLS, etc., etc. I consider almost every casino in Vegas to be pretty sweaty, but some are much worse than others.

Just hit and run everywhere you can. Who cares if you get flyered? There’s like 90 casinos in Vegas. Just don’t play rated, don’t split 10’s, and don’t over-stay your welcome.

If you’re going to play a certain chain, then stick to the more tolerant joints and leave the sweaty ones alone. If you plan on playing at Red Rock or GVR a lot on this trip, then I would avoid playing their dumpy sister properties, like Palace Station or Fiesta. If you plan on playing Orleans, then don’t play Suncoast. If you’re going to try to play Bellagio, then stay the hell out of NYNY. See what I mean?

What about preemptive disguises? Usually peeps only resort to disguises AFTER theyve been backed off everywhere, flyered, and stuck their mug in the memory banks of every critter on the strip. But homeboy got me thinking - if hes only going to be there for awhile and not be back for long time - why not put on a fake beard some over the top glasses and a big goofy hat, burn all the games down and then if he does get flyered its a picture that looks nothing like him

Thats grosjean andw thats exactly what im talking about

T.I was actually on my list - but I'll stay away. Thanks for the heads up. I was thinking Downtown Grand also, but was advised not to play there.

I was thinking Circus Circus, Encore, Excalibur, Golden Gate, Golden Nugget, Luxor, M Resort, Monte Carlo, NYNY, Stratosphere, Tropicana - basically any game at the $25 DD level with DAS according to this month's CBJN. Let me know if you'd avoid any of these places.

that's a lot less double deck than when i was there about a year ago

i'm not a vegas local and poker is my main income. on my last vegas trip i didn't play rated. i played a lot of dd and spread 25-150 in a lot of places usually not playing for more than 45 mins- 1hr
in a few places if i happened to be losing when the count got good and i had a few hundred in chips i would "go all in" acting all pissed off. i'd also order a beer or two while i play.
if i won and the count stayed good i'd leave it out, if i lost id rebuy for a few hundred and bet it all again.once that "shoe" was complete i'd leave win or lose.

at one place i ended up "all in" for 325. lost rebought 300 and just kept it at 300 until the cut card came out and left winning about 1200 dollars. i went back a few months later on 2 different shifts with no problem.

if i was winning then i stuck to the 25-150 and would leave after the second time i showed my max bet or first time i showed it if i happened to leave a few negative shoes in a row (sometimes "bathroom breaks" sometimes phone and sometimes if the count was tanking and i lost a few hands in a row i'd act pissed and changed tables.)

there was also one dealer i found who was giving 80-90 pct pen in a dump unaffiliated casino so in that case i just didn't leave for a few hours but also never went crazy with the spread and i was usually heads up with her. i also didn't want to keep leaving when the count tanked with her but fortunately the 2 times she got tapped out mid shoe the count was tanking and i got a new shuffle
i didn't want to get kicked out but i also didn't want to just play 45 mins in a game that good and it was my last or second to last day of the trip and i knew i wouldn't be back for 6 months so it wasn't the end of the world if i got the boot.

i avoided mgm properties just in case they could figure out who i am as my bread and butter poker rooms out there are owned by mgm. other than that i really wasn't too concerned with being kicked out of random dumps.
if i lived in vegas my approach would be a lot different.

I have not seen a $25 double deck game offered at Encore in over a year, even at 5am. The table is frequently at $50, but moves to $100 late afternoon and will stay there or higher well into the night.
