    Missing Windows Option

I've been looking through the Windows 10 options and I can't find an important one. Where is the option to stop Windows from coming out with new versions?

Trust me, it's available in the next version.

Norm - IIRC, the Home version doesn't have that option. Only the Pro version does. You may be able to dissuade updates to some degree mt going into settings and telling Windoze you have a metered network.

No, I mean I want MS to stop coming out with new versions.

Nothing wrong with new versions, IF there are improvements. Problem is many products (not only from M$) are mature and the "updates" are just annoyances.

Interesting you mention this as I just had to reset Windows on my PC which was then automatically upgraded to Win 10 Pro. v.1709. Lost all Qfit programs, sims and logs. Also lost MS Excel and MS Word.

Reinstall and update, all ok. I back up weekly so I guess the missing information is in there somewhere.

    New versions i.e. Windows XP, 7, 8, 10. Not Windows 10 build 2206, 2215, Service Pack 2, etc.

FWIW I did a quick search and read that Windows 10 is supposed to be the last "Windows" brand release. I'm not sure if that means they're going to go to windows as a service-based model or if they're going to re-brand it as something else.

I'll be happy as long as they don't 'Adobe' me. Or harvest all my daily usage data and slam me with ads I can't opt out of. Or 'Apple' me by artificially slowing down older versions to try to force users to upgrade.

Suggestion (for many of you who are replying to Norm):

    1) Watch Big Bang
    2) Embrace the fact that Sheldon does not understand sarcasm
    3) Ask yourself: "Does this apply to me?"

I needed to turn the updates off of my computer too. It is not something that's super user friendly to do. This is what I did:

    1. Open the Run command (Win + R), in it type: regedit and press enter
    2. Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Win dows\WindowsUpdate\AU
    3. In there create a ‘32-bit DWORD’ value called ‘AuOptions’ and under ‘Value Data’ type 2 and click ‘OK’
    4. Open the Settings app (Win + I) and navigate to -> Update and Security -> Windows Updates. Click ‘Check for updates’ which applies the new configuration setting
    5. Restart
