choosing betting correlation or playing correlation?

    Hi all,

I've been looking at the numbers and the various approaches to playing blackjack.

I'm looking at the problem of Aces, and how no count using a single metric can capture perfectly both betting correlation and playing correlation.

Have there been studies done on this question? Is it more valuable to have exact betting correlation and rough playing correlation? Or rough betting correlation and exact playing correlation? In two deck? In six deck?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards.

Awesome. Thank you for the recs and guidance on CV Data.

Do you aim for a happy medium that'll work well for both 2D and 6D games, or do you work on them separately?

I read you on the running shoes example.

At the moment I'm still at the stage of having fun looking at what's actually happening to the game state as cards come out of the deck.

I'll look into the realities of blackjack in parallel.

The answer to this question is that it's been researched to death. It appears that you are already aware that the ace is important for betting correlation and not as important for playing efficiency. The most common solution is to use a count which does not count the aces for playing decisions, to side count the aces and adjust the running count for betting decisions only. I don't recommend any particular count but HiOpt II and Advanced Omega II are examples of such counting systems.

    Gotcha.

It's an interesting question, like Moses said above, how to balance accuracy with ease of use. All the systems are approximations at some level, so how much approximation is one happy with in real terms.

Any legitimate count will work well and bring the money in. In general the more decks and larger spreads used the BC is more important. As the number decks decrease with smaller spreads the PE becomes more of a consideration.
