split aces for double or retain option to resplit

a casino offers you the ability to split aces for double, so if you bet $5 then you can add $15 when you split and now have $10 riding on each ace. They also offer the ability to resplit aces, but if you split aces for double you forfeit the option to resplit. THe game is ENHC. Should you always split aces for double (except of course against A which is just a hit) or should you retain the option to resplit against a 9 or T?

My guess is splitting aces for double is better, because re-splitting while great is rare.

I'd think it would be better to split for double. To get the same amount bet behind the aces with resplitting, you'd need to split twice more for a total of four hands. If one in 13 cards is an ace, you're only resplitting once in every 13 times. To resplit twice happens once in 169 times (OK less due to card removal). Though the aces are worth slightly more due to the resplit, I doubt it's enough to make up for the infrequentcy of the occurrence.

    Youre saying A/A v A is just a hit??

Yes, in a game where the dealer plays without a hole card and takes all bets in the event of an eventual dealer blackjack (ENHC).

Hit A,A v A is also true in the OBBO version of the no hole card game.

But why? You only get one card to split aces so you can't bust.

It's not a question of worrying about busting; it's a question of creating two hands when you're at a disadvantage. The dealer can have a natural, in which case you lose BOTH bets to his blackjack. In ENHC, you don't put any extra money on the table via doubles or splits except to split aces vs. 10.

No, OBBO stands for original or busted bets only, so you should not lose both bets to the dealer blackjack.

Perhaps you were thinking of OBO + 1 Koz?

He simply talks about ENHC as you did it in original post.
