Secret Monkey Count for Pontoon (Spanish 21)

    Hi all,

I a newbie at AP from Asia. As you guys probably know there is practically zero BJ AP opportunity here as most are dealt from the dreaded CSM.

However I found that the casinos here do offer SP21 hand dealt. Can anyone let me know more about the count and full indices? I understand that the count has high BC, PE and IC.

@ZenMaster_Flash if you are reading, do you mind emailing me at [email protected]? Or cause I appreciate all the help I can get from other gurus here.

    Regards,
    KKLOW

Over here they call it Pontoon when it is actually SP21. However that is one odd dealer draw rule. Dealer draw to Hard 16 or S17. How will this affect the HE, BS and Count indices?

That is not a trivial change. I would think this would be an advantageous rule for the AP. You would need to hit more often as the dealer busts less. Indices would change quite a bit would be my guess. Higher indices on all double, especially doubles that rely more on dealer busts than making a hand (weak soft doubles) would be done less. Lower hit/stand indices. Surrender more often. Refuse to rescue more 17's than just versus the A.

2 card dealer bustable or stand totals with replacement:
    Stands:
    20: 9,A; A,9 and 9 ways to get T,T = 11 ways
    17: A,6; 6,A; 8,9; 9,8; and 3 ways each to get 7,T or T,7 = 10 ways
    18: A,7; 7,A; 9,9; and 3 ways each to get 8,T or T,8 = 9 ways
16: 9,7; 7,9; 8,8 and 3 ways each to get 6,T or T,6 = 9 ways (would be bustable hits instead of stands)
    19: A,8; 8,A; and 3 ways each to get 9,T or T,9 = 8 ways
    Bustable hits:
    12: 6,6; 5,7; 7,5; 8,4; 4,8; 3,9; 9,3; and 3 ways each to get 2,T or T,2 = 13 ways
    13: 6,7; 7,6; 8,5; 5,8; 4,9; 9,4; and 3 ways each to get 3,T or T,3 = 12 ways
    14: 7,7; 8,6; 6,8; 9,5; 5,9; and 3 ways each to get 4,T or T,4 = 11 ways
16: Is a stand total now (9 ways)
    15: 8,7; 7,8; 6,9; 9,6 and 3 ways each to get 5,T or T,5 = 8 ways

2 card busting totals (2 card that add to a dealer up-card resulting in a bust, dealer hole card and his first hit card):
    20: 9 ways to get T,T = 9 ways
    16: 9,7; 7,9; 8,8 and 3 ways each to get 6,T or T,6 = 9 ways
    17: 8,9; 9,8; and 3 ways each to get 7,T or T,7 = 8 ways
    18: 9,9; and 3 ways each to get 8,T or T,8 = 7 ways
    15: 8,7; 7,8; 6,9; 9,6 and 3 ways to get 5,T = 7 ways
    14: 7,7; 8,6; 6,8; 5,9; and 3 ways to get 4,T = 7 ways
    13: 6,7; 7,6; 5,8; 4,9; and 3 ways to get 3,T = 7 ways
    12: 6,6; 5,7; 4,8; 3,9; and 3 ways to get 2,T = 7 ways
    19: 3 ways each to get 9,T or T,9 = 6 ways

Yes it is not trival. The whole decision matrix along the line of player stiff hands and also the line around dealer's up card of 6 and maybe 5 will change significantly.

Anyone have the resources and kind enough to run this thru a simulation?

There are numerous sets of rules for Pontoon.
It is not identical to Spanish21.
