Want to travel the country and play Bj. Is getting an RV a good idea?

I'm thinking about getting an RV to travel around the country to play bj. Like going on road trips for weeks at a time.
Is this a good idea or is it better to get hotels? Has anyone here done this or know of anyone who has? What type of RV would be good for this getting around from casino to casino. I was thinking something small that would fit in a normal parking space. Can you park the RV overnight in the casino parking lot?

Get a truck with living attachment on back - gas for an rv will be more than a room and you dont have to worry about parking

The convenience of a car and a room beats using an RV, especially for solo travellers. RV saves money when travelling with family. Travelling solo, the cost of gas, the driving being slower and more difficult, the long walks from RV parking to casino, etc.

Is your plan to get an RV to save money on rooms? Or is it more for traveling purposes and you'd have other uses for it -- ie: going with family, camping, etc.? Is your plan to go on this trip to make money or is it more for entertainment (ie: you're retired or something)? A benefit of having an RV is you can have all the stuff you want to bring with you, refrigerator, food, your own bed, a place of your own to relax, not having to check in/out of hotels....etc. Downside is (AFAIK), gas is going to be really expensive, might have difficulty parking, driving will be slower, and it'd be a pain in the ass for that to be your only mode of transportation - so it'd be difficult to drive to a McDonalds quickly or do "errands" like that.

If I were you, I'd probably look into just getting a good MPG car that's comfortable then get cheap rooms. Or maybe get a truck with a camper shell and sleep in there -- although I don't think that'd work well, logistically. But my goal for traveling the country would have a main emphasis on making money, since this is my "job" and I'm not retired, no wife/kids/etc., and can pretty much do whatever I want. Plus I don't think I'd like driving an RV across the country.

Don't know what situation you're in, what you like, what your goals are, etc. so I, and no one else really, can answer if getting an RV is a good idea. It depends.

I own a motorhome and have thought the same thing, but for short trips it's more practical to stay in a hotel. For an extended trip of several weeks it has some advantages like playing unrated without having to hustle comps for room, food, etc. As far as mobility, it's not difficult to pull a "get around" vehicle. My biggest worry would be safely stashing your bankroll in the RV

That makes sense to get something small like a truck or van you can park anywhere to sleep, or get a room.
Getting something huge will cost more in gas and difficult to get around.
I wouldn't worry a much about the bankroll because most of it would be stored in the bank.
Thanks for all the helpful advice

Yes, it depends. To me it is a mini van with modify back seats that can convert to bed when need and roof rack for extra carrying. Remember the Volkswagen bus in 60-70s? You can move around casino to casino or city to city with ease. Have portable toilet and you can dump at public toilets. With some camping kitchen gears you are good to go. My 2 cents. Good luck.

To save $$$, most Walmarts allow you to "camp" overnight in their parking lot for free. You can go online and download a list of RV friendly Walmarts listed by state Suggest you tell Walmart security you are staying the night.

Your posts makes good points taking different perspectives into account. I don't take issue, but want to show a different perspective for the travelling pro, on the road for weeks at a time.

You suggest cheap rooms with good mpg car. Not withstanding the issue if cash on hand, a few extra dollars per night on a hotel room usually makes a big difference in comfort and security. Remember, you're going to get fatigued, tired, and proper rest is very important.

Further, agree that mpg is one consideration. Incorporate that into, again, a comfortable reliable vehicle.

When travelling alone, I do my very best not to stay in dives, I choose locations which tend to very conducive to my play areas, especially important should I feel I need to rest in the middle of the day. Sometimes middle end , sometimes high end, but within my play budget. I certainly wouldn't go with the truck top routine.

If I'm with the wife, I choose a nicer place (she's worth it), conducive to the area which we are interested in.

As a side note, I'm likely finished with my halves hi opt 2 crusade, (which has been entertaining to me). We're headed (easy driving range) to a resort area tomorrow morning early for rest, relaxation and to celebrate our anniversary.

    One last point.
Some players, when in the road, feel the need to amortize their travel expenses over the greatest number of hours. I used to think that way. Being well rested and sharp over fewer hours is far more profitable than playing through fatigue.

Everyone is different and needs to assess the cues from their own bodies.

If you play full time, and this is your only source of income, you can deduct your car, mileage, some food, etc.

Not sure about part time, and not sure about an RV (calling it a home office might be a stretch...)

For me, I TRY to stay at a comped casino near other casinos I want to play. For example, run up machine points and/or polite BJ at casino X, then play unrated at Casino Y. If that's not possible, a hotel nearby.
