So, gain advantage from walking away from table when count is low?

Lets say you can count cards. But you don't want to increase your bet to keep eyes off you. So lets say you simply left the table when the count got bad, then came back when they reshuffled the deck.

First question is - would this give you some kind of advantage over just playing consistently? I would have to think it would.

Second question - if this would give you an advantage, do you think a casino would ever really care?

Third question (which maybe answers the second one) - how much of an advantage could it realistically give you? Enough to potentially overcome the house edge?

    Thanks!

    This is termed "
    wonging out."

Many of us use this methodology.

However, this tactic must be used

within short sessions, as it is very

much visible to the Pit Critters and

    surveillance.

He's not simply talking about wonging out. He's wonging and only flat betting.

I had a similar thought after being flat bet at a property. Could I play without spreading yet be at an advantage due to the count? A friend told me Stanford Wong talks about this somewhere, however I never pursued it.

You mention walking away but the first thing you need to do to have an advantage is to not sit at a game until you have an advantage. This is called " wonging in". So basically, you watch a game till the advantage is in your favor and then you wong in or enter the game. You then wong out or leave the game when the advantage turns in the casinos favor.

If you play that way, you will win in the long run but for a visit or two, there is no guarantee that you will win.

    1. Yes, in the sense you'd be losing less than normal.

    2. Im not really sure. They mostly care about you betting more when you have the advantage // having a spread. Just wonging out of negative shoes, is have to think they likely won't care very much. (If it's something like a single deck game, then that's a different situation.)

    3. In a regular game -- I'm gonna say no, it won't give you an advantage over the house. If you find a really good game with excellent rules, deep penetration, and close to a 0% HE off the top, then I'd imagine it could certainly give you an advantage. Even with an advantage, it's likely not worth it.

Sure, you could win without spreading, but you are better off to just spread.

In playing DD game, head up or two players max., as long as you have greater than 50% pen,I don't think that is necessary, when the count is low, you can compensate with hiting when you get a stiff card, and very soon, the count would go up.

You should not simply compensate by hitting stiff cards. You should use indices (or deviations) from basics strategy that have already been figured out.

Also, if you are only playing when you have the edge then you can still beat the game with a flat bet.

Even full index plays on a double deck, flat betting, with not result in a winning game.
Theoretically, if you were able to wong out at a -1 on a good single deck game, and wong back in, you could beat that flat betting.

On a shoe game, you could flat bet at a +1(ideally +2) and above and have a positive expectation, but when you look at the RoR and EV, it isn't pleasing.

With good rules and deep pen on DD,flat betting you can actually erase the house edge/be slightly positive with a good level 2 count and lots of indices.

On the flip side, to say a game is "positive" in a vacuum is meaningless. Other factors like SD and n0 need to be considered, you have to feasibly get to the long run to actually win.

The OP must really be confused, since his simple question has led to terms like wonging and RoR and Score and No and such.
