Question: Has anyone almost ever gotten into a fight with a ploppie because......

of something they said or did- not necessarily game related?

I was at a place in Reno when the dealer was going on break and some dimwit said to her "What are they going to do? Replace the dealer with an uglier one?" Then a tear ran down her face and he said "You're to sensitive to work with the public!" I looked at him and said "HEY!! WHY DID YOU SAY THAT???? YOU HAVE #$%$^$& RESPECT HER!!!! FOR PUTTING UP WITH A CREEP LIKE YOU!!" Then I walked away from the table.

Short answer, yes. I can't stand the people in casinos.

It's a game. All the people in casinos are holograms.

My first thought was the famous line "There are other players at the table"?

As a longtime third base player, someone tries to provoke me at least once a week based on my playing decisions. It takes two to tango and I've learned long ago that the silent treatment infuriates these idiots more than anything I could say to them. The problem here is that these players can bring unwanted heat if they become too vocal. When that happens you have to bite the bullet and remove yourself. I sometimes act afraid or intimidated and tell the floor that I guess I'll stick to slots.

How about those know it all dealers? We've all played with them. They are the ones who tell you to always take even money. They are the ones who cluck like a chicken when you surrender. I can be a good sport about that and even muster up a chuckle.

I do have a problem when they leave my cards on the table a few seconds longer and point to them as a way of saying I took the break card, didn't take the break card etc, inciting the other players against me. I've gotten a few comped meals and seen a few dealers reprimanded for this.

I've had people try. One lady nearly assaulted me for doubling A7 against a 6.

I recently got into an argument with a dealer about hitting my A7 V 10. He was adamant that I not hit it and even purposely passed me. Had he not broke I would have got the floor involved. I had clearly signaled for a hit and everything. I told him it was my money and to let me play how I want to play. He told me I was wrong and that he was trying to help. I felt like I was talking to a brick wall.

I understand your reaction. But, it's up to the floor to protect their people. Personally, I would like to think I would signal the floor person, and then tell him/her that the player was verbally abusing the dealer. Dealers should not have to put up with player abuse.

I know and I should have but it enraged me at the time.

I have always hated it when some people pull a power trip on people who can't defend themselves at the time!

Some dealers are scum. Most aren't. The job usually pays minimum plus tips. I've seen all kinds of assholes act in disgusting vile manners towards dealers, dealers who have done nothing to deserve the humiliating tirades directed towards them. Unless reason exists to the contrary, everyone is entitled to be treated with dignity and respect. Pretty simple really.

I thought the idiot sitting next to me wanted to punch me in the face when I split my 10s and the dealer pulled a 21. Then he went on and on about how I need to learn how to play this game and blah blah blah. Ugh

Hmm, I don't know, it's a casino after all. If it's persistent and harassing thing, then yeah I think this would be a problem and then security should be involved.

But if it's an off color comment here and there, I mean hey, it's a casino not a country club. Folks are gambling and cussing and drinking. You've got to have a thick skin.

But then again, I'm a city person so I'm used to a-holes.
