Best "basic strategy" to start with?

I know there are different ones for different numbers of decks, different rules, etc. Is there a best one to start with (probably the version of the game most common in Vegas or the U.S. generally I would guess) that is the best to start off with because you will have to learn less deviations for the other games?

Also, is there an online simulator to let me set up and play this game so I can make sure the game matches exactly the basic strategy I am trying to learn? Thanks!

Just learn the BS for the game offering you intend on playing.

That's just it Three, I live in Houston and there is no place close. Have no idea what I "intend" to play - will play the one with the best odds, if I can find them! But want to start with most common/one easiest to move on to others as needed. Thanks.

On the East Coast everything is shoe games. There is more of a variety elsewhere but the DD games are watched more closely in general, especially if they are good games. If you are knew I would suggest playing shoe games until you get used to things so you don't get pegged before you know how to assess and work around heat. Once you can do that the art of playing sweaty pitch games may be something you are ready to work at. You are easy for the Floor or anyone else to pick of as a newbie. Playing where you would be watched closely could burn your face before you have the skillz to start to earn.

What is a shoe game? I get they serve out of a shoe, but how many decks, etc.? When do they cut? All that. Thanks!

IMO, best "starting" basic strategy to learn would be the following rules:

    Multi-Deck
    Dealer Hits Soft 17
Double Any two cards (ie: soft doubles)
    Double after split permitted
Late Surrender (although not all games offer surrender, there's only a few)
Dealer Peaks with Ace or Ten

You can use the strategy generator here: https://www.blackjackinfo.com/blackj...rr=ls&peek=yes then change rules as you see fit.

I think learning Shoe H17 DAS is a good initial Basic Strategy to learn if you have no idea where or what you might play. I think H17 shoes are the most prevalent blackjack game. If you think you might head East to the nearest casinos, some of them have S17. The general Basic Strategy is the same for 4 to 8 decks and pen doesn't matter for basic strategy. https://wizardofodds.com/games/black...ategy/4-decks/

Houston is close (relatively speaking) to Louisiana and Oklahoma. I'm going to assume since you're just starting, you'll be playing red chips. Learn H17, DAS, RSA, no surrender. That will cover over 90% of the red chip games in both states.

Where I play, all the rules are H17, DAS, RSA and no surrender and its in a state where they cannot back you off. If thye penetration is decent, they are playable games.

You know the difference between praying in Church and praying at a casino?
You mean it in a casino...

There's more to a playable game than the rules, grasshopper, but if you're going to play you need to know the rules.

To the OP, PM me and I'll give you the 411 on games near you.
