    They already had my picture?

So i know about flyers.. but this feels different.

I walked into a casino in X state (midwest). I look young, so security scans my ID at the front entrance. I always look at their screen when they do so. I saw a picture of me pop up after she scanned my card. It was of me in a ball cap, what i wear when i count cards. I had never played in this state before (Indiana) i have gotten backed off from new orleans area and flyered to biloxi, and from vegas all over to vegas, but have never played in indiana... they closest other casino ive played to from this place was 2 states over...

I walked in, ate lunch and walked back out. No issues.

How/why did they already havr my picture? Security didnt say anything to me when it popped up...

Why do you wear your card counting hat every time you go counting cards?

Obviously, the problem is that you wear a Cubs hat !! No wonder you get backed off and flyered. It's the team!!

So you got backed off and flyered all around and now ask why/how they already had your picture?

You are in a data base like OSN or Biometrica.

Some casinos crosscheck your identity with a database once your ID has been scanned at the front door. I visited a MO casino once and counter measures were imposed before I even got to the table (table max set to $25). A friend of mine experienced exact same problem at the same casino.

Call me cantankerous but I never let anyone scan my license. It probably doesn't matter in the long run but I like having a modicum of control over my information. I always present a passport in lieu of a license. There's less information on it plus it's fun watching those requesting it get flustered. Remember, a lot of these people aren't capable of making change.

I continue to contrast the knowledge you need to be successful as 25% technical and 75% game assessment and acting. Not understanding how surveillance can have your photo is basic preparation, is not something you would wait until an advanced degree to learn.

As new players progress, they learn that longevity is of strategic value that likely trumps technical skill. If you can't play then it does not matter how damn good you are!

Highly recommend the new players take the time to fully define the scope of the required skill set before venturing off into the pits.

I hear many say they will just "read the book" and teach themselves to play, to which I ask, which book? There is a difference in "knowledge" and "understanding" and new players need a lot more understanding then they think.
Luck is nothing more than probability taken personally!

I had just never seen a flyer pop up at a security ID check podium. Im not surprised they have a picture of me from a flyer, im just surprised it showed up at the podium like that. I thoughy flyers were always only in hands on surveillance/pit

I will try again. YOU HAVE BEEN DATA BASED. YOU ARE IN OSN, BIOMETRICA, ETC. The picture came up when their system matched your ID to information in the data base. The security guy would next, after you entered the casino, confirm that your face matched the picture. Then you would have a dedicated screen tracking you from camera to camera until you left the casino.

Great post - thank you. Would you share your thoughts on how new players can gain a better understanding before playing live? I have not played live yet, a large reason is because of what you stated above. If you'd rather not post in a public forum but are willing to share privately my email is [email protected]

Thanks again for an informative, well thought out post.
