How Long Does It Take You to Get Ready for at Least a Couple Day Blackjack Trip

It seemed like when I was young, getting ready for a trip didn't take much time at all. Now I spend hours to get ready.

Here are some of the things I do it no particular order.
    1) Charge my phone and check to see if I have enough minutes.
    2) Pack a change of clothes if needed (I have a bag already packed that I just throw in the car)
    3) Pack a bag of goodies to eat. (mostly junk food)
    4) Most important pack my medications along with shaving stuff, tooth brush, dental floss.
    5) Pack a case of diet coke to drink on the trip.
    6) Check car for oil, windshield washer, air in tires (don’t always do this)
    7) Pack my money. (this is separate from the money in my wallet)
    8) Make sure I have my watch on
    9) Spend a few minutes reviewing basic strategy
    10) Check the weather and weather radar
    11) Take my players card
    12) Take paper and pens for tracking sessions
    13) Call casino to confirm comps
    14) Pack some napkins for nose any other things
    15) Eat before I go, don’t want to waste time eating when get there
    16) Make sure go bathroom before leave (pee and shit)
    17) Give wife orders on what to do when I’m gone
    18) Finally get dressed and stuff my pockets with all this stuff
    19) Do a final check. Did I put my wallet in my pants, my cell phone in coat pocket, pack my money in a pocket, player’s card in a pocket, watch on, and car keys in my pocket.
    20) Reset the cars mileage and check the car's gauges. Finally I’m off on my trip.

It all depends on the length of the drive.
    1. Phone gets charged while driving.
    2. Takes all of 5 minutes to pack. Pair of jeans, underwear, medic
    ines, toiletries.
    3. No goodies needed, pick up while filling has or fast-food drive thru.
    4. 2017 car, don't recheck up as always ready.
    5. About $5k hidden in car all the time, $2-5k in money clip always on me.
    6. Watch is always on wherever I go but it's the most unnecessary object on me. Car and phone show time.
    7. Except in winter, I don't check weather. Phone has it.

It actually takes me about 30 minutes tops.

Wow. My wife and I took a spur of the moment trip last week. IT was 800 miles down with 2 overnights and was not blackjack related. I don't think it took even 30 minutes to get ready and we didn't forget a thing. It's not a big deal if we do.

    I got a chuckle out of #17.

I stay packed. I have a bag with 4 changes of clothes. I take this even if my trip is only overnight or just a day trip. I never know when I'll run into something that will change my plans. I also like to stay consistent so I am less likely to forget something. I have another bag with my tablet, phone charger, 2L of water, flash cards, and other random stuff. I keep both bags in my car so I'm always ready to go.

When I decide to go somewhere, I take a shower, make sure my bags are in the trunk, jump in my car, and go.

    5, 9, 13 are funny, but 17 is a hoot and a half!

I leave a "go bag" packed and ready at all times.

Midwest Player, you do not take a shower before leaving? Or is that an AP move to get less people on the tables?

Oh forgot. Yes, I put a load of wash in the wash machine, then shower, shave and brush teeth before I leave. I like to look nice in case I get stopped by cops. If the trip is short, I probably won't shave again until I get home. Wife's job is to put clothes in dryer and get all the wash caught up when I'm gone.

Would your wife agree that she receives "orders" rather than "requests?" If so, I didn't realize you live in Stepford.

Heck, it takes 30 minutes just to eat.

However, once in my younger years I did a spur of the moment trip with the wife on New Years Eve to Turtle Lake WI. I got off of work at noon and was on the road very quick. I never knew it was over 250 miles. Never again. It was the only casino around that had any rooms left.

Hate to sound crude, but if I'm by myself and gone for a few days, I like to get laid before I hit the road.
