    Instant Lotto Tickets

I was just curious if there could ever be a extreme or theoretical situation where it would pay to buy a few instant lotto tickets and take a crack at the big prize?

I was just looking at the illinois state lottory site and seen a few selected instant lotto tickets that has been in play for several months and "most likely" sold ten of thousands of tickets, but yet, all the Big Prizes still remain..One in particular for example is the $3 "Red Ribbon" game (see $3 games) where the LAUNCH DATE was June 6 of this year, but yet, 3 out of the 3 50,000 jackpot prizes remain(opposed to some that have all been hit in less time)..I was told they up-date this info once a week, so provided thats true the info should be accurate..I guess the best case scenario in this case would be where one of games has been on the shelf for several months and most(if not all) of the Top prizes remain? Nevertheless, its at least good to know whether or not your playing a games where all the top prizes have been won or not..I guess a few tickets wouldnt hurt right? Any thoughts? or is it just plain hopeless? The Pdf link is where it shows the Jackpot prizes that have been won and what remains..

There are some good articles on this. Wired has some. I'm on mobile and can't do it right now but there are certainly techniques where some of these games can be exploited. The 50,000 jackpot doesn't seem high enough though.

Sounds interesting! Well another one that caught my eye was the $20 "Jumbo Bucks." Unfortunatetly, i dont think you can determine exactly how many tickets have already been sold but you might be able to get a "general idea" by how many of the $1000.00 prizes have been hit..With "Jumbo Bucks" for example only 306 out of the 2,870 $1000.00 prizes remain which is a good indication that an excessive amount of tickets have been sold, but still yet, 2/3 of the 3,000,000 prizes are left..In addition to that, the Launch date for this game was March 1st 2016..So who knows, maybe theres only 10 or 20,000 of these tickets left(or less), Two of them which are of course the 3,000,000 prizes lol..

I think i might roll the dice and go buy a couple-what the hell

IIRC, there have been casinos that have offered to give out like $5 in free-play if you turn in your losing lottery ticket. Granted, I believe it was limit 1 per customer, but if they had no limit and you were confident they'd give you free-play on a bunch of losing tickets, I don't see a reason why you shouldn't go to the nearest gas station that sells them and buy a whole bunch of 'em. At least, I'm pretty sure lotto tickets have smaller paybacks that aren't just the big winner, like if you match 2 or 3 numbers you get something back. If they only pay back on the big winner, then I probably wouldn't waste my time with it, since your EV would only come from hitting the biggin'....and even with a thousand tickets, you're still at some pretty long odds of hitting it....although I would probably have to think about it some more before stating I definitely would or wouldn't do it (this is under the assumption the lotto only pays back on the super biggin' and they don't pay out on like 2/5 numbers or something).
