I'm playing prom whereby a suited match pays off an extra $100 in Spanish 21 on a $10 side bet.
Re: Match the Dealer (in Spanish21)
If what you are saying is correct, you have an enormous advantage over the house.
That is not hyperbole. I suspect that you have not explained your situation clearly.
Are you saying that the casino is adding 10 to 1 to the normal 3-1 on the unsuited
match for an actual payoff at odds of 13 to 1. This is a valuable promo. A perfect match
will occur at the rate of about one hand in 31 or about twice per hour. A $200/hr. bonus
This is excellent. The variance on Perfect Match is not extreme, but you really should
expect to get between 1 and 3 per hr. but Zero to 4 will NOT be unusual at all.
If you bet$10 per hand and $10 on the MTD getting 62 hands per hour. You will be betting
$1,240 per hr. On 1/2 of that you will lose 0.42% if you accept the Basic Strategy posted
on the WizardofOdds.com On the other half you will be earning a lot of money. The simple
algebraic solution via spreadsheet, or whatever, awaits someone's computation.
Recently I watched my new local casino plundered hard by players as they paid
14-1 instead of the standard 12-1 on a suited match 24/7. A simple computation
via spreadsheet indicated that this casino mistake moved the MTD House Edge from
+3.00% to -4.65% The 7.65% 'swing' resulted in the casino taking out their four
(4) Spanish21 tables as they were getting pounded by amateurs betting $500 X 2
on the game, that they played poorly, with a matching $500 on the MTD side-bet.
If a casino paid 13 to 1 that would alter the House Edge from ... +2.99% to -0.83%
A big swing of 3.86% Not exactly a gold mine, as the common ploppy play of the game
itself, yields a House Edge of roughly 3.5% (by my estimate), which still has the players subject
to a significant overall disadvantage of roughly 2.5% ~ so the house's vaults will not
be as subject to the ravenous predations of ploppies as you may have thought. .......L.O.L.
