    Playing Casino Verite

Hi. I am a keen begginner and am playing the Casino verite software ( 6 decks) with KO preferred settings. When the RC is 4 and I have 16 vs 10, it says the right choice is to surrender but when I read the KO book it says that at 4 or higher to stand and if lower to hit. If I am at a table that surrender is allowed, and the count is above 4, should I surrender or stand? and if below 4, should I hit or still surrender? I also read that surrender always precedes the hit/ stand decision..can anyone please shed ljght on this. Thank you so much

Surrender does always precede the hit/stand decision.
I do not use KO, but tried to look up your situation on Casino Verite. It seemed odd to me that the KO book would say to stand at 4 or higher. Casino Verite (using KO Preferred), says the H/S index is -4. and KO Full (6 deck) says the H/S index is-8. Both of them say to surrender 16 vs. 10. Could you have left off the negative sign, or am I missing something?

I just checked my copy of KO, and the numbers agree with the CV software. I believe you missed the negative sign in front of the 4, or looked at 16 vs. 9, instead of 16 vs. 10.

Thank you for your reply. Yes I made a mistake! I meant -4. If possible I always surrender 16 vs 9, 10 and A, right? and also 15 vs 10? so in these cases the indexes are only to be followed if I cant surrender? I decided to learn this strategy to avoid the extra task of converting to a true count. What do you use? and if you may, would you please let me know if you think KO is a good system.
    Thank you

    Yes. I use REKO.
Only one real problem (in what concerns me) : It's unusable in Spanish 21 (or variants on cruise)

Just learn a true counted system. You'll be much happier in the long run. You'll never have to learn a ramp or memorize various initial running counts again.

I am in the midst of transitioning from ReKO to HO2. I think KO is a good system for many. It depends on what you are trying to accomplish. I used ReKO during a time in my life when I knew there would be long periods of time when I did not go into the casino, and I had many other things vying for my time and effort. Prior to ReKO, I used RPC and expected to return to that count after a hiatus. When I returned to counting, I learned of a count which was truly ridiculously easy...so I ran with it. You have to honest with yourself about what your goals are, and how much you are willing to put into it (I am assuming capability).

Can you please tell me what is the easy count you learned? I am good with learning but never was into cards before.. so not very good at knowing how many decks left. My plan is to practice with CV and then perhaps go to a casino to try it out.. I am reading a few BJ books ( I read the KO) and Stanford Wong´s secrets and now am reading BJ attack by Schlesinger. Any suggestions to enhance my learning would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

I was referring to REKO. It is an easier version of KO. It happens that it was created by Norm (the owner of this forum). Just look at the top of your page for the BJ Resources tab and click on the FreeBook on the sub menu. Since you have already learned KO, you will probably not see a need to switch. This was just for your edification. If you decide card counting is for you, you may eventually decide to start using a more powerful count. Don't be afraid of deck estimation, it will not be as difficult as you imagine.

For now basic strategy plus 18 indexes is what I can handle without making too many mistakes. Any better counting system with deck estimation you can suggest please? In a 6 deck game, from the beginning to reshuffle how do KO and Hi Low compare? What kind of advantage do we gain by learning to TC ? Thank you so much for helping me
