VIP rooms aka whale harvesting stations, can have very large limits. I've heard of 30k bets being placed, even at my local which is in a small city.

Not that you could wong in a VIP room anyway. And the MIT team wouldnt have placed a 100k bet either, even with a 10 million dollar BR thats still full Kelly.

Benny Binion, supposedly had a policy in place wherein a player can set his own limit,
by betting high on his first hand. I am actually trying to imagine a placard displaying
anything over $1,000, and my eidetic imagery keeps the maximum bet clouded over.

20 years back max was $2,500. There was a time when it was $25,000. But, I don't remember the specifics.

MIT team operated in 1978 to 1989. I remember in that era, you sometime could see outrageous table max like $25,000 or even higher on MAIN FLOOR.

I read that Binion's would take any single bet from any person. They would call up and have Benny come down and watch the hand / roll / etc.

Here's a story that had me looking at crazy Binion's stories.

Good read; thanks for posting that. When I moved to Vegas, the cable guy that came to set up everything saw some casino chips of mine and we got into a long conversation about gambling, etc. Turns out he used to used to be a pool hustler and knew Archie through his adventures doing so. He said he asked him why, when he was up so many millions of dollars, that he didn`t just stop there. Unfortunately I can`t remember what he said the exact response was. Maybe partly because I immediately associated it to something extremely similar that Tom Sizemore`s character said in the movie Heat when they`re talking about whether or not they`re going to hit the bank: "Well ya know, for me, the action IS the juice". He didn`t care about the money, only the gambling high. Someone like him seems to me to be a prime candidate for what the article below describes, in that his brain probably has a biological tendency to produce excessive amounts of dopamine. Compulsive gambling has been linked to that brain condition. Maybe I`m wrong, but I would think that losing an amount of money that has you set for life could be explained only by something like that.

When last seen, Archie Karas was doing time for daubing cards in a Las Vegas poker room.

My dopamine levels have always been quite low. I don't know if that's good or bad.

Only because it's fascinating (certainly not fact checking you, ZMF) I looked this up. He was sentenced to three years probation for the daubing and is in the Nevada Black Book. It appears he didn't do jail time over this.

It is a very bad thing.
How could you know your level?
    Do you have Parkinson's?

I've never been troubled with addictions of any strain, if that's what you mean.

I`m only just learning about it, but I don`t think having low levels of dopamine necessarily means you`re going to be extremely prone to addictions, or of any specific type. I think it affects everyone differently. Anyway, if you`re interested, the article below gives a pretty good overview. Supposedly dopamine is still being researched heavily because there`s a lot about it that isn`t yet known.
