i moved from San Bernadine, Ca to Dayton, OH back in 1990 to get away from gambling (back then, most states did not have gambling) because I was aware that I had an addiction. The damn casinos eventually followed me to Ohio! More recently, I moved to Tennessee and to a city where the nearest casino was 3 hours away. At least, this keeps me from gambling every day. While it does not stop you from gambling, you can control the addiction by moving to a different city.

I believe the addiction also creates an AP. If you cannot quit, the next option is to become good enough to where your addiction does not cost you $$$. Early in, you think you will quit going to casinos after a major loss. If you are not addicted, you quit going to casinos and only go to play recreationally (and many did this, never became AP's). If you are addicted, you keep going but you work harder to understand the game, good variance comes your way and you are on your way.

You can gamble on your computer at home. By moving away from casinos aren't you setting yourself up for an even worse potential problem of gambling online?

I think I am addicted to BJ, not gambling, cause I never play anything but BJ. I have never played online either. I think Zi am addicted to BJ, the live casino environment, the heat and excitement and I just don't feel that on online anything.

Some lotteries allow you to play with an advantage. There are teams that invest hundreds of thousand of dollars in such a drawing t get the desired certainty of outcome when the plus EV drawings hit.

The format of the lottery mandates a net payout on total ticket sales. The regular drawings always have a surplus so every now and then they up the prize structure from top to bottom to give back the surplus.

The advantage is in all the prize money that is not split. Hitting the top payout is not required to have an advantage.

Large jackpots have nothing to do with your advantage. The trick is to get enough trials to take the chance factor out of it. Not sure how they handle taxes. Since the idea is to buy enough tickets to insure you are close to expectation that they just pay them. I mean if you don't loss on any AP lottery week what is there to worry about. The trick is figuring out what week the lottery surplus will trigger the high pay table.

About Blackjack: The Forum

BJTF is an advantage player site based on the principles of comity. That is, civil and considerate behavior for the mutual benefit of all involved. The goal of advantage play is the legal extraction of funds from gaming establishments by gaining a mathematic advantage and developing the skills required to use that advantage. To maximize our success, it is important to understand that we are all on the same side. Personal conflicts simply get in the way of our goals.
