    Almost Backed Off, I Think

I was backcounting and when the count got favorable, I sat down and put out my bet.
Dealer stopped dealing after floorperson whispered something to her.
Floorperson then got on phone, and was also talking to other floorperson, although not looking at my table.
Ploppies were wondering why dealer was just standing there. So was I.
I had already played one shoe where I reached my max bet, so I figured I had overstayed my welcome and got and left.
If I was about to get backed off, this seemed unusual because any other time I've gotten backed off, the dealer kept dealing
until the suits were right behind me.
Any thoughts on what was going on?

They stopped the game and got on the phone? That's definitely weird. Not enough to reach a conclusion based on your post alone, though.

Floor whisper to dealers all the time. I can hear some of them or figure out what they are talking about because I can hear the dealers response. All the ones I can figure out have nothing to do with me. That said it is better safe than sorry. But sometimes they do things to gauge your reaction so your response may be the only thing saying your a counter.

Forum responses to your conundrum may be
more weighty if you identify the casino by name.

    Your sarcasm needs an emoticon.

If you think that somehow the O.P.

will be identified via the casino's name

you are being a bit paranoid.

How would he get better or "more weighty" responses if he posted the name of the casino? Which casinos, if named, would yield different responses?

The dealer stopping is interesting, usually they stop only when there's an issue being worked back through from a misdeal or something of the sorts that Surveillance wants to look back over, or were asked to look back over.

The floor whispering to the dealer is nothing new, most of the time they are whispering, its usually about what Player 1-7 walked off with chips if they didn't color up, or if a certain player had the same bet level whey they made rounds through the pit, most of the time being because they didn't want to unfairly rate a player who is a "regular", "tipper" or "big timer".

Its rarer for them to discuss YOU in front of YOU while this goes on.

It would creep me out as well. If you were playing rated I'd have probably just stuck it out to see whether that card is now tagged. If you were unrated I'd probably just blow out of there without stopping by the cage. That frees you up to come back there in a month or two on a different shift like nothing happened. It's never that first shoe that does you in while backcounting, it's the second one on the same shift.

That is strange. Is is possible it was for something else?

I always assume when I backcount that it is extremely conspicuous. I keep my max at an amount I feel they'll tolerate.

seen it happened multiple times and my guess was right . So it ain't that rare. There is a lot of stuff people say it's rare but it probably isn't . Maybe it is not as rare as one might think.

Rare for some people but not for others. Could the latter be way too obvious?
