It was a dual rate who had recently been promoted from dealer. I don't think he really understood what he was doing.

If it were only that easy. The house, of course, would claim it was not a policy, but that the pit boss was just exercising the discretionary power afforded him in helping to create a customer-friendly entertainment environment. I hope you are not labeling ME as a ploppy! Ploppies believe in "the sacred flow", "somebody HAS to hit", "Don't hit A7 cause 18 is a good hand", and all that stuff!

No, I was referring to the OP, who wondered why he's never been backed off spreading $5-30 on shoe games.

I had a really polite backing off at an Indian casino in California a few years ago. The PB comes over to the table, asks to speak to me in private then proceeds to comment on how good a player I was, how much they've been enjoying watching my game, shakes my hand, reiterates how good a player they thought I was, shakes my hand again and then asks me not to play blackjack (but that I was a welcome guest and should feel free to enjoy their other games or the great food at the restaurant)!!!

My pet peeve is being told "Don't hit A7 cause 18 is a good hand" I have been told this by dealers and the Blackjackally challenged...

I just tell them that 18 is statistically a slightly losing hand, and especially a poor hand when the dealer has a ten up because of all the ways the dealer can beat me.

It's a winner against a 16, too, but where I play, the dealer never seems to stay on 16.

I know a 6 up means the dealer has a high chance of busting, but last week my dealer consistently made incredible hands with that 6 showing! Lost most of my splits and double downs. They smoked me!

Thank God, that doesn't happen to me
