    Shreveport, LA

I was reading CBJN for Shreveport and it says "beware of overzealous security and city police." Doesn't anyone have any experience with this and what happened specifically?

Rural Mississippi and Louisiana are well-known
re: their extreme hostility toward A.P.s

Most venues elsewhere are fairly polite about tossing us.

On one occasion I had been 86'd for low
    red action,
where S.O.P. is for security to escort you off premises
and record your license plates and then FOLLOW you.

I escaped by jogging down a one way street where their
two vehicles could not safely follow me.

Also, unlike casinos in most of the country, they actually
do sometimes have A.P.'s arrested for trespassing.

On one occasion, I had to intervene on behalf of a
"rough around the edges" student of mine who was
about to be evicted for using foul language when he lost.

I don't have the privilege. I'm just curious about the incidents. My play has been centered around lake Charles but I had considered going to Shreveport.

There have been severe abuses of brain-using patrons by casino security guards and officers of the Shreveport and Bossier City Police Departments, resulting in at least two large legal settlements. The Shreveport/Bossier City area is considered by some skilled players to be too dangerous to visit.

Any links to the lawsuits? Is this just a way to keep fellow AP's away? I have never had a problem down in lake Charles.

I'm unaware of any serious problems in Lake Charles.

The victims in two of the guard and police attacks don't want any more publicity than they already have had from filing their lawsuits. I will post only the courts and case numbers; the cases can be looked up by those with access to the relevant court systems. Please be discreet and don't unnecessarily publicize the names of the victims:

26th Judicial District Court, Bossier Parish, Louisiana, case number 133155-D

U.S. District Court, Western District of Louisiana (Shreveport), case number 5:14-cv-02495-EEF-MLH

About 10 years ago, I had a mild win in West Virginia. The casino is in the middle of nowhere. And it is very odds that all police force are in surrounding area but not in the casino. Once I left the casino, I felt I am followed and watched. One mile from the casino, I was stopped by a police who immediately gave me two tickets for speeding and changing lanes without proper signaling. I did not speed and certainly always signal when changing lanes. But West Virginia wants their $800 back.
