The Euphoria of a win streak...

Since I moved to a city with no casino within a 170 mile radius, semi retired, my BJ habits have changed. Where I used to go play BJ whenever I felt like it and mostly day trips, I now have to plan 2-3 day trips away from home.

To to make it short, this month was the best I had. 6 trips or a total of 15 days this month, spent 140-160 or so hours in casinos during my trips, won on 5 of 6 trips, total win of over $7k with the losing trip of only $700.

I am trying to deal with the overconfidence after my return from my last trip yesterday. Luckily, I have been through it so I am not doing something crazy but thoughts of spending/splurging, of believing that I have finally figured out this game and I am going to be a winner from now on and invincibility plague my thoughts.
I have also had bad losses in months past where I have thought of quitting so I guess it's a roller coaster and not like I have suddenly become a great AP.

My BR is now $42k, I play $25-$300 spreads and was wondering what BR I should settle on if I play BJ only for recreational monies, have no desire to play at higher stakes? Is a $40k BR enough to try and maintain and when I have over, I can plan on splurging, taking a vacation, buying the spouse something, etc.?

Sounds like you have a pretty reasonable perspective; i.e., don't get too comfortable on that smooth stretch of blacktop because you know that the bumpy dirt road with huge pot holes is right up ahead.

I think a $42k bankroll is sufficient for your spread assuming you're playing decent DD (high-SCORE) games. Not sure I'd reach that same conclusion on shoe games. You'd probably want more like 200 x max bet ($60k) to be comfortable.

Thanks, Bigdaddy! I was trying to figure the ROR for a BR of $40k, max bet of $300 and a minimum of $25 for both 2 and 6 deck games. Don't guite know how.

Since I would be wonging out at TC-2, would I still need $60k to play a 6 deck $25 min. Game?

For a typical crappy 6-deck game (H17 DAS SR) with 75% pen using Hi-Lo I18, $25-$300 spread and w/o at @-2, the SCORE is around 25 and your ROR with a bankroll of $40k is 0.7%. So it appears that the $40k bankroll is adequate for this approach. The ROR on a decent DD game would be much lower. So you're good either way with a $40k bankroll.
