Post Looking into learning how to play

    Hey guys,

I have been a poker player for many years and to this day it is still my number 1 favorite game and i am still up, which is a bonus. But Blackjack has interested me for a long time now i just have never gave it a go due to the fact of not knowing how to play. I tried playing a little Blackjack online for free and to me it seems like it's just a guessing game (gotta be lucky) to win, i know it is gambling at the end of the day but it always feels better if you have some angle over the game. I have been looking into Blackjack software for sale online where it basically plays for you and there is a 85% success rate?? now i'm not stupid things that sound to good to be true, usually are, but you never know. If not then what tips and tricks can you guys share with me on how to play/beat the game to the best possibility that i can. Looking forward to some answers guys i know your all the geniuses on here!!

First thing, any software that advertises success rates like that is a scam. Don't buy into those. Legit software includes a sim program called CVCX and a practice game called CVBJ.

Anyway, first thing to do is to learn basic strategy cold. This reduces the house edge to the lowest possible amount for the various rules that are out there. Be sure to learn the correct strategy for the number of decks and rules you'll be playing. Don't deviate from basic strategy under any circumstance until you learn how to count. You'll be better than 99.9% of players out there already. Did I mention don't deviate? The lights are on because most people play incorrectly.

After that, learn a simple count such as knockout or hi-lo. Learn how to vary your bet with the count and then after that, learn about the appropriate times to deviate from basic strategy depending on the count.

Basic strategy is first and foremost and will take a few hours to learn, practice, and get down cold.

That's a simple run down. I'm sure others will interject here with more detail.

Approach the task of learning as a building block process. It is not unusual to spend 200+ hours of actual time to learn the process and depending on the difficult of the count selected, it could be much longer.

    Good luck.
Luck is nothing more than probability taken personally!

your first step is to memorize basic strategy. there is a free game here :

    https://www.blackjackinfo.com/blackj...ategy-trainer/

which will help you do just that. there is another one here :

    http://www.hitorsplit.com/blackjack_game.html

just input the rules of your local casino and then play for a few hours. it will correct you when you make basic strategy mistakes.

after that, you need to learn how to count cards. there are two drills you can do to help you with this. first, flip through a deck of cards. when you see a 2-6 say "+1". don't try to keep count just yet, what you are doing is associating tag values in your mind so that when you see a card you automatically think about its value. 7-9 are neutral and 10, J, Q, K & A are -1. Flip through the deck a few times and simply say or think the value of the card until it is clearly associated in your mind.

The second drill is to flip through a deck of cards but this time maintain a running count. Every low card increases, every high card decreases it. You should be able to predict the last card, it will be the opposite of your running count (so if the running count at the end is -1 it will be low card, if the running count at the end is +1 it will be a high card).

next is learning the illustrious 18. here is a good program :

    http://www.blackjack-drills.com/it/

you will also want to acquire a discard tray, 6 deck shoe and 6 decks of playing cards so you can practice at home. you want to practice until you are perfect before putting your money at risk in a casino. you will need to work on deck estimation and converting the running count into the true count (you take the running count and divide by the decks remaining).

Blackjack is a great game, well worth learning how to beat.
