have seen someone be cheated out of a blackjack too. I advised him to be more persuasive and to threaten leaving the casino right this instant if he did not get his blackjack, but he cowered when the TM showed up and did not even get an option to withdraw.

I have parlayed TMs and PBs into giving me a free bet twice:

    1. I intended to hit a 14v2 on a deviation and the dealer skipped me
    2. The dealer forgot to peek an Ace up, I saw it, played anyway, then when she revealed a 10, I just bitched until I got my free bet.

In both cases I stood my ground and asked them to rewind the tape and they relented.

I have got numerous options to withdraw on screw ups. But it was not always offered at first. You need to insist. Know your rights. The rules of the games are often dictated by the jurisdiction's gaming commission and it's against the law to not play by the rules. Simple as that.

The one time I failed getting my way: the count was high, the dealer offered insurance and IMMEDIATELY peeked. While I was saying "Yes!" and reaching for my chips. I was miffed and so was everyone around the table because I had a lot of chips on that table. Which I lost, as the dealer drew a blackjack. I left immediately and gave the dealer a look he did not like.

BUT I DID NOT THREATEN OR USE VIOLENT LANGUAGE.

    Don't forget: prison sucks.

it is when you raise your bet and the small cards coming , after a while of observing many dealers can tell. a lot of people have a certain tell when you observe it (maybe subtle). I had that done to me twice ,skipping one of my hand with 2 bigger bets . You know what ? The floor told me joking "we have to do what we can ". this floor does not act only if i am staying too long and especially winning too much (in their view). I had a lot of dealer floors that indirectly told me that i am counting . They don't care as long as it's a" trivial" amount .

That too, be aware that they will notice with time, especially if you hit the same shops more than twice a month.

It pays to know the laws because sometimes you want what you can't get. Like backing up the cards. But that doesn't mean you can't get a better option than what they are offering. I remember playing a hand where the dealer skipped my first hand, hit my second hand and flipped his hole-card revealing another T for 20 after seeing the made hand. I had a 15vT on the first hand. Of course the card ruined my second hand which was a 12 and couldn't be backed up. The card was the dream 6 for my 15. Now I had a crappy made hand of 18 and an almost certain bust at the high count with the 15 against a T in a high count. I was told by the Floor that the best he could do was let me back out of the skipped hand only. He swore he couldn't do better even though I knew he could. I think he believed what he was saying. Rather than calling the pit boss I suggested, another option. That was to call it a dead hand since I would have the likely pushed the bet pair for the round and that was the same result. The Floor said I can do that. And I got both my bets back the way an option normally works and I didn't have to call the PB in to see my big bets.

The principal that was followed of never being able to "back up" a
    card is universal.
But the dealer could abuse the rule. When I was younger and didn't use any cover, some dealers figure out I am a counter. There are two dealers who would skip the second card that made me Blackjack. The worst for him is that he would give me a makeup card which also make Blackjack. At some casinos, after giving makeup cards, they resume play and not give free roll.
