Getting closer. Eric and Gronbog are working independently, and I'm trying to serve as middle man to coordinate the two efforts (Perfect play and SCORE of Tarzan count). Lots of work, as all are perfectionists who want to "get it right."

The irony is that I'm reasonably sure that I already know the magnitude of what the answers will be, and people are going to be disappointed all around.

I'm sure others will, if I don't! But, yes, at least the broad outline of results.

I do believe that Uston was
playing a S17 SD game, for a much-reduced House Edge.
In today's game that 3% figure is pure Science Fiction, about double my estimate.

    What about shuffle tracking.
Daryl Purpose said that the computer would come up with some odd plays like hitting hard 18 and then they would fan the remaining deck to see a bunch of twos and threes coming up - todays shuffles are more complex than the one pass R & R, but arent todays computers exponentially more powerful?

    Probably not.

Depends on what you mean by "huge spread." See BJA3, p. 241, Table 10.53. This is Hi-Lo, with nothing but the I18, and the edge with an optimal play-all 1-16 spread is already 1.90%, for 5.5/6, S17, DAS, and LS.

If you can get away with using a computer, there are a lot of games that would be waaaaay more profitable than blackjack. Sequencing casino war, for instance.

    Hello Don

I might have lost the outcome of this project in a different thread since I haven't been checking the forum as often. Do you have any news / results?

No, sorry. The work with Eric sort of fizzled out. I'll have to revisit our last exchanges to see if there is more to be done. As for Gronbog and Tarzan, they are still toiling away.

Don -- Apologies for bringing this post back from the dead, but I was curious if anything ever materialized out of this research. You hinted earlier in the thread that the magnitude of gains from computer perfect play would be disappointing, but that is probably relative to everyone's expectations and I am still curious.

No, nothing new. Sorry. Have shelved it at least for now, as I'm working on a different, but very big, project.
