If you are trying to memorize indexes, see the recent post:

To practice the count, I use CVBJ. However, there are several web sites that provide free counting practice. One of them is:

How much can you afford to lose? How long before
a small losing streak cleans you out? Counting cards requires the ability to suffer extensive losing sessions. Statisically new counters make it passed the first two years less than 1% of the time.

Get a day job. It takes years of practice and a good size bankroll , patience and patience . Since you have zero ( 0 ) experience stay with online practice till you can flash count with 2 decks of cards drawn in 3s.

3 SECONDS????? With 1 physical deck, flipping 2 cards at time, it takes me more than 20 seconds..... and that is without counting!!!!

Most neophytes are severely undercapped for this adventure. Your betting ramp is proportional to bankroll size. Your bankroll dictates your win rate and risk of ruin. Very few players make a living from it. Only a handful. And the reason is fluctuation. Before anything else, read Snyder 's paper called you won't win.

Yes, you can learn on your own. Good advice from very patient posters above. It does help to network with others ONCE you learn to count. Norm's book is free online. Good starting place to learn. If you join as a member here, also good links and books in subscription area. I think it only costs about $3/month to join this site.

And as Munchkin always asks to determine what your level of "beginning" expertise is (and I know ZMF will make fun of that term), what do you do with A7? LOL
