I've done the drive from Reno to LV and vice versa many times. In a few weeks I'll be making the drive again. Not one time did I stop for more than gas or a piss lol. There is a nice stretch of highway where if I see if I can bury the needle on the rental car.

That road trip loses a lot of its luster after reading about or hearing about instances of Sheriff Good Ol' Boy in Nevada going hog wild with some of that unbridled confiscation and seizure action for no apparent good reason... We have legalized theft for law enforcement? You used to see cops around and feel safer years ago, now you have to fear that they will shake you down and rob you like some sort of street gang. I saw those articles and particularly alarming image of that Sheriff smiling for the camera and holding in his hands some banded bricks of $5000 ea., which happens to be how every gambler carries their cash, how I carry cash... Hmmm, someone driving in Nevada with cash, coming from a casino and going to a casino... Events over the last few years have made me look more carefully at travel plans that involve driving and what measures I need to take, since apparently these days you need to carry the same concerns over police as you do for common criminals... both will gleefully steal from you!

Keep your cash under your soiled laundry, with underwear and socks on top,

to reduce the chances of anyone finding "anything", cash included.

With about ten easy, inexpensive flights a day on Southwest, and the efficiency of Reno's small airport (rental car counters in the terminal, no shuttle to bother with), why would you make that awful drive rather than fly?

While I would not make that drive, I can easily embrace the notion of doing it ONCE.
