"The Blackjack Life" by Nathaniel Tilton

Just finished reading this yesterday - very interesting and well-written book about the escapades of a two-man team. Also noteworthy that this is not very dated material. Most of the stories are from the 2007 - 2010 recession era and take place in Vegas, Foxwoods and Mohegun Sun. Funny story about him getting chased out of the Venetian. I can picture that one... The writer also mentions that they had Atlantic City in their rotation. That's a little curious to me knowing that the games there have basically sucked for some time.

Anyway, I highly recommend the book. Looks like the author has given up blackjack to run his wealth-management practice. Check out his bio:

Note that the reference to his being an author of "The Blackjack Life" is downplayed, buried at the bottom of the resume. Smart move in his line of business. I might have considered leaving that accolade off the resume altogether.

See Post #4 for my apology.

Opinions on this book vary greatly, if you'll pardon the understatement.

Playing as a caucasian with dreadlocks made him stand out to an absurd degree.

No rational explanation of this self-destructive behavior is offered.

His being a degenerate on-line poker player can be a cautionary tale.

The author's casino skills, in general, were dubious (at best.)

I recommend this book to many wanna be counters as it does a nice job of indoctrination on what to expect. It is both a novel and somewhat of an instruction book. Good read.

ZMF, I have to wonder why you would impune the author's character and skills on a quasi public forum. Do you have information you have not shared?

I do know the author and would not describe him in terms that include self destructive, degenerate or dubious and believe it is unfair and disrespectful to do so.

    We all have our opinions.

YIKES ! My error. In spades !

I was thinking of another book -- "Repeat Until Rich."

    I will delete my commentary.

    Please forgive my egregious error.

How do you technically put dreadlocks on a caucasian?

Funny we talked about movies, but are there good written stories around blackjack and gambling?

The 2 books mentioned in this thread (The Blackjack Life and Repeat Until Rich) are worth reading.
The former is excellent; the latter is a good cautionary tale; it's good to read both types.
Blackjack Autumn is good, if a bit dated.

I enjoyed Repeat Until Rich, mostly for the stories. I did find it odd that he self-admittedly had an online poker addiction, but I definitely enjoyed the book and the stories, and would recommend it to anyone that wants something new to read around the "our" subject matter =P.

Just bought The Blackjack Life. Sounds like another book I'd enjoy reading. Especially because after many many years of Lone Wolf my team started out with me and my best friend 2 manning it. I'd like to hear about how they developed in their team as we did ours, learning along the way =D.
