My post was tongue in cheek.
The fact is that short term variance in a game where you can calculate or estimate the range and know that in the long term you have an edge is one thing. With crypto currency you are unlikely (I’m being charitable) to know your edge and so are left to whipsaw at the whim of a very bubbly market. You could put your BR into crypto and wake up in the morning a 50% winner or a 50% loser. A stack of Benny’s in your safe is subject to the whims if inflation, but that is a trifle. And you can put that cash in the bank and offset the inflation loss.
I don’t know how many casinos have bitcoin ATMs (you wouldn’t use it anyway if it was in a casino) or how many are found at the local gas station, or if/how they limit withdrawals. Or if you could you would withdraw $10+K from a bitcoin ATM at a gas station! Or if you’d think it safer to meet Mr. X in a foreign country to exchange crypto for cash (too much variance for me!) If you’re worried about moving so much cash that it’s an issue you’d be better off travelling with a bill of exchange (bank draft, traveller checks, etc) or arranging a wire to a local bank and getting there a day early to convert or withdraw the cash.
Back in Holland in the 1600’s a lot of AP’s put their money into Tulips. It didn’t work out.
