    fkn ploppies

3 times this past week I had ploppies point out dealer errors that were in my favor.

1st a Chinese lady who had a colored bet out of 1 black and 3 reds on top and I had a 4 red unit bet out. I won the lady lost and the dealer simply pushed over her 4 chips to pay my bet without realizing the black underneath. She immediately told the dealer she paid me her black chip. I had already mixed it in with my chip pile. Dealer reaches over grabs into my chips and takes it back.

2nd I had a max bet 12 unit green chip bet out 19 push. Dealer is fast at paying and makes mistake paying the push. The ploppy next to me points out its a push.

3rd I had two hands of 75 out one was a double down dealer hits a 6 card 21 starts paying out as a bust and for what unknown reason an Honest Abe tells him he in fact has 21. Everyone at table is mad.

    What a week.

    That would be infuriating.

Be magnanimous, the dealer might have got fired. Many locals are on friendly terms with dealers. They would think very poorly of you. A good AP wins his money, not accepts dealer mistakes.

In local haunts, that approach is fine, and was a practice that I also followed. I no longer play locally and no longer give a shit about returning mispays. Dealer errors often cost hundreds of dollars because if silly rule of another - in other words - you've been screwed. Dealer mispays are partial payback.

Look I agree with you about I dont like to see people lose their job but mispays are part of the game. It also seems casinos around here have a hard time keeping dealers around so many are new and make mistakes and not always in the player favor. Since I am always observant I have way more many times had to correct a situation where the dealer was going to take my bets or other mistakes that would cost me. So when the rare dealer error is in my favor its a slight payback for all the times I have to fix their job.

My point is though, it shouldn't be another player on the table to out a mistake that turned in your favor. That's a complete dick move. I've seen others get mispaid and I keep my mouth shut.

How does he compare to this ploppy? Recently I had a max bet out and $25 on Lucky Lady side bet. There were only 2 persons at the table and TC was double digits. Then a ploppy came, I asked him nicely that we have just won 3 hands in a roll after a tough shoe. Will you wait until the new shoe since there are only one or two hands left? He ignored me and placed the table minimal bet. I was in the second base. My first card is Queen of Heart. The second card of the first base is also Queen of Heart. If the ploppy did not join us, I would have won $5,000 on the Lucky Lady. Instead, I lost the hand and side bet. That ploppy costs me $5,475.

You would not have gotten the first queen of hearts if he hadn't sat down. You would have gotten first bases card as your first card and the next hand would have received the queen.

I was playing heads up and had a guy jump in after I asked him not to. I would have gotten a $5K bonus payout on my bet if he hadn't joined the game. Of course another time a ploppy or maybe AP left leaving me heads up so I wonged out for an early shuffle and a "pee break". Upon returning I still had heads up and a fresh shoe and quickly hit the $5K bonus payout. If the ploppy or AP had not left I wouldn't have hit the $5K bonus.

These are cards we got because ploppy jump in the third base:

    First base: #1: T #5: Q of Heart (total 20)
    Second base/me: #2: Q of Heart #6: 7 (total 17)
    Third base: #3: T #7: K (total 20)
    Dealer: #4: J #8: 9 (total 19)

If he had not jump in, these would have been the cards dealt:
    First base: #1: T #4: J
    Second base/me: #2: Q #5: Q
    Dealer: #3: T #6: 7

It is very irritating when people do that sort of thing, but little can, or should, be done or said when it happens. Move on and minimize the frustration.

Remember folks, we could not exist without ploppies. Ploppy saves a dealer from making an error and he maybe saves the guy his job. Would you not want someone to save you job, a bit of help in carrying a load? Why see a dealer as an enemy? Most of us locals see our neighborhood casino as a "cheers" bar, your dealer as a bartender. They know me by name and I know them by name. Why would I let a stranger who rode into town to burn my local game get away with anything at the expense of friends?

Dealer errors are part of my bottom line. Many dealers from where I come from make mistakes. A large dealer error can make up for a crappy session. I always tip though and that is not usual in this country - the dealers really appreciate it. Occasionally I have seen a dealer disciplined by the pit manager for errors, I don't think they will go as far as to fire them unless there are continuous repetitive mistakes. Casinos are not our friends and can give us the boot at will. I recently witnessed a customer being practically forced to leave after winning 5k. He was not counting cards - he won multiple big sidebet payouts in the space of 2 shoes due to poorly shuffled cards. And this sidebet carries an edge of over 10%. He got lucky and the casino never even gave him a chance to return it :-)
