For those interested in "Advanced" Counts:

It was 14 years ago. I had a Cyber-Friend in Canada. Rob McGarvey.

We were Counters, the same age, and we had the same diagnosis.

Severe Cardiac Occlusion, with angina pectoris and hypertension.

The difference was that the Socialized Medicine in Canada had him

waiting months for surgery. He expired, while I am still here, because

my Open Heart Surgery was scheduled and completed in a twinkling.

    So much for socialized medicine.

Before he expired ~ he wrote a BJ book and gave me an advance copy.

It is called "Aces & Faces Blackjack" by Rob McGarvey.

It was never, to the best of my knowledge, sold; but before his

death, Rob told me that I can share it with worthy readers.

I had all but forgotten about this book. "It collected dust."

Surely, you have never seen this ... until now.

Rob sought to improve upon strong counts like Hi-Opt II and ZEN.

He failed. "Less can be more." ~ You can really enjoy reading it:

Basically he found that his attempts to elevate Level Two counts

lowered (slightly) Win Rates, but improved "N0"

In honor of Rob, here is a scanned copy for your reading pleasure.

I'll restore the link if you can show that it is not a copyright violation.

BTW, didn't he die during surgery? He was extremely ill with, I believe, additional congenital problems making surgery dangerous.

Wong had tables on ace side-counting Halves. I had them in the original CVBJ, but removed them when he removed it from the book.

Side-counting an ace-reckoned system, in the method in the leather bound Professional Blackjack, requires that you not only count the ace in two manners, but also use a different set of indices. It is substantially more difficult than side counting Hi-Opt II or AOII.

The author provided me nothing in writing.
Additional problems was not the issue that
he communicated with me. The Canadian
medical system was to blame he said.

in about 5% of the cases, Americam medicine is better. In 95% of cases, the fact that there are no insurance company CEO's making millions in Canada is fantastic.. I had back surgery in the USA, the bill was $74000, my cousin in Toronto had the same identical surgery, it cost him nothing. I had to pay a significant portion of the bill plus bills for the physical therapy. He didn't.

What are you the thread police? Do you have a little TICKET book?

The main problem with the count debate is there is no end. There cannot possibly be an end without a beginning. The answer is within each individual. But it's not difficult with a step by step process.

    Are you a thinker?

    A. Skipper's racquet costs $2 less than Pooch's racquet? What is the cost?

    B. Pooch's racquet costs $3 plus ½ the cost of Callie's racquet. What is the cost?
    C. Callie's racquet costs $2 more than Holly's racquet. What is the cost?
    D. Holly's racquet costs $6

Your ability to quickly solve these equations may well speak to your blackjack counting ability. There is nothing wrong with Hi Lo. The wrong is to discourage those capable of more by knowing the SCORE. Especially, with the tools available from Norm.

The SCORE from a simulation is real great. However, the mission is to keep it “real” instead of great. A great SCORE reflects a game of cards played by people. Remember you are playing a game of people with cards. There is no greater tool to compare tag values than CV Data. So, rather than start from one and working your way up? Consider starting at the topand working your way back to your comfort level.

Wong Halves offers the most streamlined approach because you only have to remember one number. If you can remember two, then Perfect Insurance is second in line. Now, you are working with a 994 BC, 565 PE and 1000 IC. In worst case scenario, if your lose the 2nd count, your IC is still 725. It may be possible to adjust the tag values to get a higher SCORE. But consider this your starting point as opposed to the end result. Most will tag variations will run about the same in a sim. But sometimes there is that one that stands out by 10%. A streamlined approach without the bottleneck is the way to the most efficient structure to YOUR game.

Good engineers understand complex equations. Great engineers make complex equations simple again.
Stanford Wong is the epitome of this statement with Wong Halves in relation to the effect of removal study by Peter Griffin.
Don S is the epitome of this statement with the Sweet 16 and Fab 4.
Norm is the epitome of the this statement with his software products.

Casino tolerance is the primary consideration because EV is always $0 if you are not allowed to play. So when selecting the data for your sim, do not include an index that will get you kicked out, shuffled up on, or incur wrath from others at the table. Most realize betting strategy increases should not exceed casino tolerance. But few consider the frequency of bet increases will draw attention as well. A 10% frequency should keep you under the radar and still make a pitch game worthwhile. This is
a key barometer when comparing tag values and systems. The beauty in CV Data is it shows you how to win without all the glitter. Don't forget to have fun!

Casino Verite is a mirror as to how you perform at your game. Play the same way you play in a casino.

The long run is about 59% probability after 10 hours or about 1000 hands; 75% probability after 100 hours or 10,000 hands. 94% after 500 hours 50,000 hands. 99% after 1000 hours 100,000 hands.

So, in order for you to see yourself in the mirror, about 10K hands puts you in pretty good shape. A commitment of 10 hours per day and 100 hands per hour is far more prudent than grinding out lessons with your hard earned dollars. Two weeks and you've learned more about yourself and the game than most guys in 6 months of casino play.

I get a bit tired of Yankees bashing the Canadian Health system. NOBODY in this country is denied medical care on the basis of affordability. It is mandated through the the Canadian Health Care Act. Each individual province manages their particular programs. The system, regardless of the crap that you hear, works.

A few weeks ago, I accidentally took 2 heart pills (forgot that I had taken the first) The pill in question takes my better than regular heart rate and slows it down, takes my very normal blood pressure and drives it down. The effect of the second pill took my reduced 45-50 bpm to an erratic 32-42 bpm, most of the time, under 40. It took my reduced average 110/70 110/60 blood pressure to a low of 60/28. I had no pain, but felt shitty, asked my wife to drive me to the hospital (if I'd known what was going on, would have called an ambulance) I hit the triage desk, was admitted and in emergency within 3 minutes. Within 5 minutes, I was totally hooked up to monitoring machines, transferred to CCU, released after a couple of days once everything stabilized.

About 15 years ago, I was on the other side if the country, got hit with a bowel obstruction and took a taxi to the closest emergency ward. There were absolutely no issues about admissibility - I was a Canadian citizen , was admitted immediately, had cat scans done, the usual stuff short of surgery, which fortunately, was not required. I was kept overnight until things settled down.

About 36 years ago, I was in the Province next to me when I had a gall bladder attack (gall stones). Again, no issues about admissibility and treatment.

Yes, I pay higher taxes than most of you south of the 49th. Consider though - are your lower taxes plus health care cost
a better system? And of course, add to the equation that no one in this country declares bankruptcy because of crushing medical bills.

I just re-read (your) post #4. It is tangential, at best.

Furthermore, there is/was no "original halves book"
