    Basic strategy cards

In reading the archives I came across a post saying the gift shops in various casinos may not be selling the correct BS cards for the games they offer! As I live deep in the heart of Mexico and flying to Vegas next week there is no time to use the postal system. And as I don't know exactly what is offered at the different tables I can't generate and print out the appropriate card(s). So my question is, where can I get the right card, if needed, after I get to Vegas? I will be staying at the Palace Station, 1 K BR, solid BS, fun run to practice but not play KO.

Muchas gracias in advance for the answer to this and any additional advice you might offer.

    Oncesubtle,

You are saying that your Basic Strategy is "solid."

If so, why are you looking to print out Basic Strategy?

If you need to study B.S. you SHOULD write out your

B S - found on numerous sites and numerous books.

To see what is available at Palace Station, go to:

NOTE: Click on column headers to sort meaningfully.

The world is coming to an end..............I agree (without ANY reservation) with Zen Flash..........LOL

Also have this suggestion, if you are trying to learn or remember the different nuances for alternative playing rules, don't forget to check out Ken Smith's site. He has an adjustable program for any set of rules. You can then check these out or adjust your tables for the rules. And places change rules on occasion or vary them depending upon the casino manager's whims. So they are NOT always the same every time you go to a particular location.

Relying upon postal system in this day and age seems most antiquated and if you have any of the classic books or Don's book or Norm's book, you should be able to find basic strategy charts pretty easily.

Thanks for responding ZMF. What I meant by solid BS was I practice and will only play BS. So my question is, where can I get the right BS cards for the different games if they are not available in the casino? I tried the linked page but couldn't find Palace Station.

Thanks MJ, my plan B is to survey the games and use Ken's engine but I won't have a printer and hoping to get something more legible than my own handwriting.

The gift shop in Palace Station does not sell Basic Strategy cards. I don't know what game you will be playing in the Palace Station but there are gift shops in the airport that sells Basic Strategy cards for Multiple deck blackjack games. The last time I looked those cards were for 4-8 decks, Stand 17, double after split.

Buy playing blackjack as a business by Lawrence Revere you can buy it for $4 on ebay including shipping. There are 2 pages that tell you your gain or lose mathematically for each basic stragedy move. The biggest gain is spliting 8's vs a 7 which is 57% better than staying and 53% better than hitting never want to fail to do that one. To marginal moves hitting 16 vs a 10 4% better on a zero count a marginal play might want to stay if you see 5's out.

    Listen up !

If you take a ruler and a pencil and paper and

write it out a few times you will LEARN the B. S.

If you use a card, you'll never learn anything.

Write it out. Then try it from memory.

Then you'll be able to write out a table of B.S.

containing all of the plays that you find confusing.

Rinse and Repeat ... until rich (inside joke)

Ken sells on his site at a reasonable price, BS cards that are laminated with all the possible rule variations. I believe that Tamburin on his site sells the same cards. Price may vary a bit but surely more economical that buying in casino gift shop and you can get them ahead of your trip IF YOU ARE INSISTENT ON HAVING SOMETHING TANGIBLE in your hands other than your own memory or a smartphone with the engine that you can look at AWAY from the table OR as Zen suggests, you can write your own pretty easily. Honestly you are making this much more difficult that it should be to play BASIC STRATEGY. There are NOT that many variations to be honest.................and as Don would probably opine, the difference for your level player would be minimal at best.

I found making an excel spreadsheet of the basic strategy card (blackjack and others) for each game I play the easiest way to commit the strategy to memory. I have one blackjack spreadsheet with tabs for each game I encounter. (single, double, six H17 & S17) I can access this spreadsheet from my phone if needed during a trip. This is useful when I find a game I don't play often on a trip.

The only strategy you really need for a Vegas trip is for a 6D H17 DAS with Late Surrender, unless you're playing $100 mins or higher. This is what you will find a Palace station. You could learn a 2D H17 DAS strategy if you have time.

    Oncesubtle,

As a basic strategy player, what you need to comprehend is what your predicted loss is.

If you are playing the DD game with RSA at Palace Station this is what it will cost you:

I will assume that you will play at medium crowded tables and "flat-bet" $10 per hand.

You will lose, ON AVERAGE, < $3 per hour. Of course that means anywhere from

    > $10 to (possibly) "breaking even." You will be very unlikely to win anything.

By the way -- Palace Station Tower Rooms are very cheap and quite good.

Basic strategy with some wong out and some very crude counting(no time to learn) would help ? EVEN spreading 1-2 ,or 1-3 would BE WAY BETTER OFF THAN bASIC STRATEGY just do not do it all the time if you are afraid of heat/backoff. I read that you are there to play recreationally with a 1k bank and do not want to get tap out.
