    Greedy Vegas Hotels.............Resort Fees revisited

OK, there was a thread (more than one) on this topic.

Thought you guys would get a kick out of this one. With the change in Total Rewards (Caesar's) now charging Platinum level players even, it's getting a little out of hand. I think that Norm's reference to litigation will be a big class action eventually. Which means lawyers will make the money and we might get one fee reimbursed.

I traveled to Vegas from Australia in April, and it was quite a nightmare. Firstly, the Flamingo provided a room that was no where near as described, they moved me, and thankfully reimbursed the money after having to line up for 30 minutes to speak to someone. I then stayed at Circus Circus, who never refunded the security deposit. I must say, as an international traveler, LV is not one of my favourite places for dealing with hotels and their staff.

In Vegas, like in most places, there is a huge difference in quality of service and accommodation. The 2 places you mention are near the bottom of the list of strip properties. The mid-tier and high-end places are much better/nicer.

I agree with your opinion on Circus Circus. I'm sure it's due for a major renovation and/or change. But don't you consider the Flamingo a mid-tier or mid-level property? That would probably be a topic for another thread to start asking folks opinions as to how they would categorize hotels BUT I sure considered Flamingo mid- v. -lower

They both seemed like they were near the bottom end of the list! We were given a tip that if you just rocked up mid week you could score pretty cheap accommodation. I arrived on a Wednesday, went straight to Caesar's, only to be told it was $300+ a night. I guess that mid week special didn't exist there!

If you are in Vegas and need a hotel room, at the Front Desk, you say
"May I have a Casino Rate please"
Those rates are far far lower than the "rack rate" that you were quoted.
