Always beg for stuff. Ask a floor, ask a pit boss, ask a player's club attendant, ask a host, etc.
First of all, apologies for bumping a 4-year old thread, but I felt that it was still better than opening up a new one with the very same subject.
Just recently, I got a players's card (never had them in the past) and will try to play for comps. I realize that they are typically based on your average bet and the time you played, but also on the fact whether you won or lost your session.
Average bet and time played I understand, but how do they know if you've won or lost? Even with my losing sessions, I still color up and cash out some money (whatever is left from my original buy-in). Does that potentially make me a winner in their eyes, cutting down on the comps?
Please feel free to share your ideas about what the best way to maximize your comps is. I am a red-chipper, primarily looking for a few free meals, so nothing really too fancy, like hotels and flights.
The third thing is skill level if you play a game of skill. They have also started to comp in new ways. If you are a constant loser some places will comp better and if you are a consistent winner they may not comp you much despite traditional formulas saying to comp you well. I was told by a host as I angled for more comps that I was ahead lifetime on all 3 ways they track your play and should be happy I got what I got in the way of comps and expect nothing more. I didn't pay close attention to what the three categories were. Obviously win/loss was one. I would think that the ability of mailers to cause me to lose or win would be another. And working the comp system itself would be the third but that is just a guess.
Traditional formula is average bet times time played times house edge times a percentage that they determine.
