Side bet for dealer to bust on six deck BJ AFTER seeing up card. Good or not good?

I normally don't play the 6 deck games because I've read double deck has slightly better odds (given everything else is even). However, this one table with 6 deck has a side bet for "Dealer Bust". You can place the bet AFTER you have seen the dealer's up card.

It seems like a very good bet with a dealer showing a 4,5 or 6 no? Or is it because it is a 6 deck, there are many more small cards so the dealer busts less often? I honestly can't believe the casino would allow a side bet that has a good chance of winning.

    Any comments about this please?

    A Horrid Sucker Bet.

The dealer's bust rate does not change much with the True Count.

    The dealer's "bust rate" on 5 and 6 hover between 40% and 42% 39% for a 3 Less for a 2

I always smirk (inwardly) when poppies say: "The Dealer is supposed to bust ! That was a Bust C
    ard."

When in the index range of splitting 10's vs. 6, 5 and 4, and there is a 6 or 5 showing would this still be a -EV wager or sucker bet?

What's the payout for if the dealer busts?

If it's 2:1 for 3-4 card busts, it's positive EV for dealer upcards of 2-6.

If it pays 1:1, it's a sucker bet.

No! Learn to use wizardofodds.com. There's a wealth of info there on all sorts of games, including BJ side bets. There are many different variations on the Bust sidebet. They all suck.

I believe that you would need a very specialized count to count the buster side bet. Generally removing large cards (excluding the ace) helps your EV for this side bet. The focus should be less on tracking a higher bust rate and more on tracking the likelihood of busts with larger number of cards since the payout scales based on how many cards the dealer busts with.

However, I believe that you might be talking about something else. Chances are, if you don't get anything extra for the more cards the dealer busts with, the side bet is not going to be countable.

I think I know where this is, I have seen this side bet before. I didn't waste any time on it because it was 25 max but you could crush this thing with a regular count...the stiff upcards have to be +EV in high counts...

I suggest a re-reading of post #2 RE: This Sucker Bet.

The game I saw that had this paid 1:1 for any bust and 3:1 for suited bust on the 5 and 6. There were higher payoffs for other upcards. I thought the bust rate scaled with the count a lot more than it did. I guess if you used some specialized count you could squeeze a little out of this but probably regular BJ would be better.
