    Incorporating Free money bets.

To date I have avoided using my free money bet coupons when the count is high because when you look at most people that have these they almost always toss them out there shortly after they sit down to play. I think hording these is a tell that you are waiting for "something." Although waiting for a double down or split opportunity would probably not look to out of the ordinary. Still there are probably a wealth of ways to use these coupons that I am not thinking about. Does anyone have any practices on using these?

I play at a place that gives you a free Ace sometimes. The great thing about it is, you use the Ace AFTER you see your hand. So if you wait for a 9 or a 10 at a high count with a big bet out, you can play your Ace and even double down! Therefore, I can justify waiting to use it.

How much are your coupons for? I would say that if it is for a small amount like your minimum bet, it doesn't matter when you use it. If it is for more, I would say wait to use it at a key moment. I personally wouldn't bet them all on one hand. I would spread them out.

I wouldn't think they would care either way, but as always, you know your casino better than anyone.

In the situation of free-play coupons, does it really make any difference as to *when* they are used? Think of the coupon as a chip you found. It has no significance other than it is 'free money' that has a restricted use. Personally, I don't think the suits give you more scrutiny because you delay using it. But if you are concerned, use it early instead of waiting. It is nothing more than a substitute chip, and a chip is nothing more than a substitute for cash. But it has no significance in terms of the count.

Blackjack is almost never the right use of a coupon. If you're not restricted, you want single numbers in roulette, or a similar high-variance bet (sucker bets in craps, side bets, etc.)

If you're restricted to even-money bets, baccarat (player) and craps (pass/don't) are better bets.

Also, free bets are exactly the same as loss rebates. $25 free bet is the same as 50% rebate on a $50 bet.

If it is an even money proposition, Grosjean claims the best use is 3 card poker. I'm surprised so many posters were unaware.

I didn't really consider that an "even money bet". But you are correct, the ante in 3cp is better than the options I listed.

Moo, while I agree with most of what you said, coupons here sometimes are limited to blackjack or the games you play. In other words, our mailers have game specific coupons sometimes. Best one here is the 2 for one payout on blackjack. But not sure best time to use it because you never know when you are going to have a blackjack.........despite average number of hands. Probably not the smartest use, but I just place it when I have my first BJ of the day. (Blackjack for muffdiver as that acronym means something else to others.........LOL)

I guess I could save it until count is higher but still no guaranty of BJ on your highest bets though that SHOULD be the case in the "long run".

Best ev on the coupons is often more theoretical than practical and assumes you place zero value on your time.

In the even money only scenario, if you use it on the play bet the dealer gets confused and asks the pit boss, then the pit boss gets confused. Craps, is it worth the extra tiny bit of ev to sit through a couple minutes until the current point is resolved and then a couple minutes for a roll to be resolved when you play the matchplay? Player bet depends on how out of the way the bac table is.

Depenending on size of the matchplay, if you're going to play blackjack anyway and place more than $2/hr value on your time, probably makes most sense on blackjack rather than spend an extra 5-10 minutes to get an extra $.25 in ev.

OK; I will look now. I was thinking about visiting your area of the state soon, to be honest. Wanted to know if conditions had changed or were similar. Thanks!
