Funny they list Blackjack as generally a 2% house edge. They must figure most games are 6-5 pay?

Approximately no one plays correct basic strategy. The more options you give them (DAS, LS), the more most players screw up.

Zender in "Casino-ology" estimates the typical player gives up about 0.8% in addition to whatever the house advantage actually is. A typical 8 deck game with 0.6% advantage that translates to a 1.4% house advantage. For an eight deck game with 6/5 that's 2.8% so it's "only" double the house advantage, not the 350% increase it would be for basic strategy players. Perhaps that explains why despite the proliferation of 6/5 rules on the LV Strip the hold on blackjack has not really gone up all that much. That could, of course, also be explained by the fact that people are playing many less hours of blackjack because the house edge is killing them. (e.g., Killing the Golden Goose).

.8% sounds low to me. Maybe East Coast players. But lots of places I see players giving up 2% or more.

The problem with 6:5 is that the casinos are thinking about the hold only, instead of thinking about the drop.

About Blackjack: The Forum

BJTF is an advantage player site based on the principles of comity. That is, civil and considerate behavior for the mutual benefit of all involved. The goal of advantage play is the legal extraction of funds from gaming establishments by gaining a mathematic advantage and developing the skills required to use that advantage. To maximize our success, it is important to understand that we are all on the same side. Personal conflicts simply get in the way of our goals.
