    House Edge

Encountered the following conditions at an outing. At the onset of the game, the deck is dealt and the first Ace is the house/bank. The bank changes to a player who has a BJ or taps the bank.

    (1) 100% pen/single deck

    (2) 3:2 BJ

    (3) Only double on 10 or 11

    (4) Dealer has the option to hit/stay on S17.

    (5) Min. $5/Max is up to total of remaining bank.

    (6) DAS if total is 10 or 11.

All other conditions the same, i.e., one card on Aces split, etc.

Just curious as to the HE.

I don't see the dealer's option to hit or stand s17 on CV Data. It seems that the dealer's strategy against a sole player with one hand is to stand with s17 if the player has 16 or less and to hit with s17 if the player has 17 or more, and, that the dealer's strategy against a sole player with more than one hand or several players is to stand or hit according to whether more money is bet on hands with less than ot more than 17. This rule can also allow collusion between the dealer and a player, a felony for both.

This is fairly obviously a home game variant, like at a poker party, than a casino variant. I'd imagine this is a pretty close to break even game; obv. the dealer option is worse than regular H17. Highly countable, to say the least!

Wait just a minute. We spend all this time on the forum complaining about how preferential shuffling is cheating and how no casino should ever be allowed to do it, because it changes the expectations of the game, and yet you're wanting to do the very same if you were to be put in the dealer position with your own money on the line. You can't have it both ways!

This game has been a "local" staple at various functions for decades. My strategy has been to flat bet the minimum, unless the count zooms, and wait for a BJ or tap the remainder of a bank and simply become the house with a minimum $750 bank. Over a many, many year period, and I mean "MANY", there has been only two occasions where I or myself and a partner have incurred a loss. The winning sessions have ranged from a low of $2,500 to an instance, which involved a few highly intoxicated "shooters" with horrendous BJ abilities and theories, of close to $25,000. Kind of gives you an idea of the profitability of the casinos with unskilled players.
