    $1000 bankroll?

Well im looking at taking this hobby more serious and have set aside $1000 for an initial br. I know this is small but for me coming from taking $40-60 to casino's to just play for "fun" this is quite the step for me. I plan on playing on $5-$10 tables. I would keep all the winnings in this br to let it grow and continue to grow to play in bigger games. Am i just too optimistic w/ this small of a bankroll and just look for another hobby, or can doubling this be done?

You're toast. No chance. You will lose it all.

It would be better to take $20 of that money and buy your first blackjack book.

No, $10,000 is a small bankroll. $1,000 is not a bankroll at all.

If you are playing just for fun and have a $1000 budget, that is fine. As the others said, it is unlikely you will win. On the other hand, if you have a $1000 budget now to play just for "fun" and will have another $1000 every say 6 months with the same plan, eventually you should catch a winning streak and get to the point where you are playing with a reasonable ROR.

Not so, zerg. The most likely result will be a series of events with sequential losses.

$1,000 (per periodic loss) is nearly always "a lot of money" to a civilian.

No, you should go at it with your $1000 but realize that $1000 isn't much of a bankroll. If you lose it will at least be a good training experience? Hmmm... You could probably train for cheaper right at your kitchen table while you are building up some more funding, though. Maybe study into what you are facing in terms of risk of ruin with that sort of scratch.

Put another, if I was playing with $1000 at a $10 game, I would not feel comfortable at all with that "BR" for even one session. That's only a 100 units. You can easily go up or down a 100 units in one shoe. At $5, $1000 would be a decent amount for a session.

Well, pretending you are playing $2 table, Wong in when TC is +2 or higher and bet that $10. Stay at the table if TC is above +1. If TC drops below +1, go to count another table supervised by a different pit boss.

If you are going to be visiting casinos anyway, then you should be counting the blackjack tables instead of playing craps. There is no excuse for freely giving them your money, regardless of your bankroll. You will need to wong in and out heavily and make reasonable excuses for leaving the table.

    Fact,

A good friend started out with a $1000 BR playing a good game, only good, 6d, H-17, lost her bank, borrowed herself another $1000 and in 2 1/2 years built it up to $100,000, so don't listen to the naysayers that it can't be done, because it sure as hell can.

Yeah. A friend of friend of friend started with only $10. In one year, it grows to one million dollars! Don't listen to naysayers. It could be done.

First I want to say... did you change your name? Is this who I think it is and I won't put the old name in case there's any issue on that. If it is hi there friend! I wouldn't say that couldn't be done but it's simply a matter of looking at it realistically and understanding that you might be underfunded.
