I couldn't find this anywhere online from any of the bookstores, is it published/reviewed material?

Cellini's book is absolutely fantastic. Has saved me from backoffs, and allowed me to play through things I used to think were heat. I imagine if this guy's book is half as good it would be well worth it.

I wouldn't worry about it - I suspect most of what's written won't be relevent to what goes on in the UK. If you're endeavouring to play with an advantage here (through counting cards) you can get away with huge bet spreads, few of the staff understand the underlying dynamics and maths of the game and you're not going to get backed off because "you're game is too strong for us". I don't even think that anyone sits in a surveillance room anywhere I've played, but that the cameras are there to provide footage for later review. What I have seen before is a floor supervisor flicking through screens of snapshots of players looking to pick one individual out - and to identify who they were by referring to the Reception Desk footage - but I doubt it was because she thought he was counting cards.

Having said this, it's not a case of completely disregard it all. You might get busted if you play at a level that gets you noticed, and consistently win, or take a sleeping bag into your selected House of Chance and camp out at the BJ tables - I've met someone that exactly that happened to (spending around 40 hours a week at the tables at the same place isn't good for keeping the welcome mat out unless you're just another losing punter). As I commented on in a forum, even a regional casino's patience will run out if someone is consistently taking money from them, even off of the lowest min tables. This young graduate and his partner extracted several £000's off of the £2/£5 min tables over several months, but turned up to play one day to find his membership had been cancelled. Just be aware of the triggers that can lead to this happening.

Somewhile back I got hold of a book by a guy called Bill Zender - "How to detect casino cheating at Blackjack". Fairly interesting, but completely irrelevent to the UK. I think it was written for the benefit of people who frequent unregulated Native American tribal casinos in the US.

Ping me a PM and we can correspond off the board.

For what it's worth: Mike Shackleford wrote a review of Behind The Black Dome: An Advantage Player's Guide to Casino Surveillance, earlier today on his 'wizzard of vegas' website.

Thanks for the link Sir! Does seem like an interesting read, not sure about the value v. price comparison though.

About Blackjack: The Forum

BJTF is an advantage player site based on the principles of comity. That is, civil and considerate behavior for the mutual benefit of all involved. The goal of advantage play is the legal extraction of funds from gaming establishments by gaining a mathematic advantage and developing the skills required to use that advantage. To maximize our success, it is important to understand that we are all on the same side. Personal conflicts simply get in the way of our goals.
