I witnessed the most idiotic way to piss away A LOT of $$$

I know ploppies are ploppies, but this one, i think, takes the cake when it comes to pissing away money...I'm still in somewhat of disbelief so I have to share to see if anyone has witnessed something similar, or this bad.

So I walk into this store that i visit about twice a month. I notice there's two gentlemen at a $25 min bet table, the were friends that were playing together, but there was one "main" guy. I couldn't help but notice the amount of stacked chips in front of him, so I'm thinking oh, ok, a high roller is in the house today. I counted easily $30K. He was playing going back and forth between black chips and purple chips. I didn't pay much more attention, so I walked past them and went to do my business at another table.

Fast forward an hour, I come back here, they are still there, but his chips are about half gone. I stick around for a couple minutes to watch just out of curiosity, and notice the following taking place, just to give you a few examples:

    1. Player (mr. high roller) has a 6,2. Dealer showing an 8. Player STANDS on the 6,2...and even gave his reason for doing so to his partner in crime. Something along the lines of "I've lost the last three times I've hit, so I'm gonna stay this time no matter what..."

    2. Player has 10,3. Dealer showing a 7. Player SURRENDERS.

    3. Player has 10,9. Dealer showing a 5. Player HITS!!!!!...for this one he actually again gave his reasoning to his partner, which was "the last two times I had a 19 the dealer pulled a 21, so I need to break that trend with my 19's".

    4. Player has10,10. Dealer showing 10. Player SPLITS!

Plays as the ones I just listed went on for the whole two-to-three minutes I watched. Remember, this guy is going back and forth betting black and purple. And to add dramma to the whole situation, he was cursing out the dealers because they were killing him. After I went to grab lunch I walked back past that table, and mr. high roller was now looking even more upset....playing with a small stack of green chips.

Anyhow, just thought I'd share, in case anyone thinks they've already seen the most idiotic plays, I think this will be hard to beat...I was in such disbelief I didn't know what to think of it. God bless the USA, do as you wish with your money, i guess....BUT DAMMM....

This makes me sad that casinos allow people like that to keep playing. Were the dealers even ignoring his signals and suggesting the right play?

That's a very good thing. That's how the casino can afford to pay us to play.

A couple things....at one point when I was watching, while mr high roller was deciding what to do, the dealer and I made eye contact and we looked at each other with the same expression as "is this really happening?!"...and then remember, this guy was verbally abusing the dealers. So it would be difficult for them to be friendly as he was not open to it. Of course he didn't tip them and didn't even tip the cocktail waitress that brought them a drink. It was an awkward situation.

You may be right that this guy is clueless and it does seem like it....but the info is limited. I've seen many bad bs players and there will be many questions about the overall play. You may have seen the worst player in the world or you also may have witnessed some pros in action.

Pro? No way in hell...stay on a 2,6?...also, I forgot to mention another play. He had a stack of black half way in the circle and put out a second stack on the next betting circle. The dealer dealt to the first circle, a FACE card (which had the chips a half way in the circle) and he yells "wait, stop!"...the dealer calls floor. Floor asks what's going on. And he says "I didn't mean to bet this spot, I accidentally pushed this stack half-way in the circle..." They let him pull back his bet. If anything else, that move alone proves this guy was absolutely clueless and a jerk.

You witnessed the player...I don't know details. All I'm saying is there will be a lot of questions when it comes to suspicious play. For example, on the 2/6 hand, what was the bet? If it's low, was it to camouflage? If it's high, could it be info? If the next card is an 8 and the dealer has a 16, what should you do with a 2/6 and a max bet? With any playing error, you have to know the order of cards and differentiate whether it's a bs mistake or a deviation. How many deviations were made? Are they consistent with info play? Is there a pattern for high and low wagers? Was it the same dealer? Is the style of play the same with other dealers? Etc.

On the two hand spread, he received a 10 for the first hand but what was the next card for his second hand?

This is what I mean by saying there will be questions. Without details, I can't help myself but ask worst player or pro? But of course, I don't expect you to know every detail.

Now Now,,we must be kinder and gentler and not refer to others as jerks, or even clueless, try to be more understanding please.

As to this player you speak of, how would you have felt had he won big, playing the same way??,,would you have thought you were maybe watching one of the greats, like JG, Bojack or Maz,,maybe even Tommy Hyland, or maybe if you were in VeGas, KJ himself!

You see, I have seen both sides of the coin, a number of times, and I never felt anger, just pure amazment, and never thought of the player as a jerk.

So please tell us your thoughts if it had went the other way, please.

    O

Could he possibly being a pro? sure it’s possible, though highly unlikely. Could he have won? Perhaps, and if he did, I really wouldn’t have cared. It’s his money. I just observed he had all the tells of a ploppy on steroids.

As for my “jerk” comment….I mentioned how this guy was treating the dealers, such as yelling at them and calling them names, cursing them out, literally. Then mocking a specific dealer because of the way he physically dealt the cards (the dealer was an older gentlemen, very nice man btw, and his hands are shaky because of his age). Then, his demeanor in asking for two cocktails at a time with a horrible arrogant attitude towards the waitress, then not even saying thank you to her, let alone giving her a tip…sorry if me referring to that jerk as a jerk offends you.
