What is the gain for the index 10,10 vs 3 against an 8 deck game?

I've seen a counter split 10, 10 vs 3 against an 8 deck game at TC = 8. I think he is using the Hi-lo Count. Since most of the gain from an 8 deck game came from bet spreading. Is the deviation 10,10 vs 3 a significant gain for Hi-lo compare with splitting 10,10 vs 5 or 6? With Hi-lo playing efficiency being 51% is using that deviation good for the system?

I don't have my index references immediately handy. This looks like a poor play to me. Splitting 10's v 6 is marginally plus EV at TC 4, with risk averse TC 7 capturing most of the EV. Splitting 10's v 3 would require far far more than TC 8 for risk averse play. To many intangibles in an 8 decker. I would be content to take my probable plus and stand.

Splitting TT is as much about the dealer busting than you masking a great hand if not more. Against a 5 or 6 your count is usually pretty good but against a 3 those darn not so neutral cards make neutral cards like 8 or 7 really make the dealer bust probability much more loosely correlated to the count. The index for risk aversion would be extremely high to compensate for this if one exists at all. Look at the risk averse soft doubling indices against a 3. If lots of 7's or 8's are mixed with that high card surplus the likelihood of the dealer getting 20 or 21 are too high. Not to mention all the other made hands. You would need to be side counting some of these ranks to make this play.

Last night someone split 10's against a five. The dealer said "You know what we say about someone who splits 10's don't you.....you just cut a 10" pecker in half."

I think the original quote was about spitting 5's. Was this in S'Port?
