    Casino Verite Fix

I reinstalled Casino Verite 5.6 on Windows 7. However, I notice that there is no sound when the cards are being dealt out. For example, in Casino Verite we hear the dealing sound of the cards each time the cards are being dealt out. When I reinstall Casino Verite in Windows 7 the dealing sound of the card is not working anymore but other sound still works. I could hear the dealer say insurance and the sounds for the bet payoff but not the dealing sound of the cards. Is there a fix for that?

The reason why the dealing sound of the card is important is you can create distraction but turning the sound on with music in the room. This create good practice.

Is the shuffle sound working? Was it working on that machine before? It's a very brief sound. Your system may have trouble with it. Look for

    C:/ProgramData/qfit/cl1.wav (Not Program Files).

Double-click on it and see if t plays. If not, double-click on BUZZ.wav and see if it plays.

If you can’t find the ProgramData directory:

    a. Start Button
    b. Control Panel
    c. Click on Appearance and Personalization
    d. Click on Folder Options
    e. Go to the tab View
    f. Check “Hidden files and folders: Show all files and folders”
    g. Click “OK”.

    Norm,

The CL1.wav did play. The Buzz file worked as well. The shuffle sound is working. Yes all sound is working on my machine before I installed windows 7 on it. Everything worked fine with Windows XP. Is there a fix for this problem?

Are you certain you looked in ProgramData, not Program Files?
Do you have all updates to Win7? It had many problems with games in early releases.
Do you have the latest version of your sound driver?

I am sure that I looked in ProgramData and not Program Files. I don't know if I have all the Windows 7 updates because I just upgrade my computer to windows 7 recently. I am sure that I have the latest version of my sound driver but I will double check.

CV has supported Win7 for four years. This must be something specific to your machine. Perhaps it is having trouble with wav files played too closely together or extremely brief sounds, like the click on the card hitting the table.

I will installed Casino Verite on another modern laptop and see what happens.

I have no problem with Casino Verite installed on same machine using Windows XP. I don't know why there is a problem with Windows 7.

Did you put W7 on a new partition? I have had major file problems through the upgrade process.
Maman died today. Or yesterday maybe, I don't know.

No everything is in one partition. I checked in device manager and all drivers seem to be working properly.

I just fixed the sound problem in Casino Verite. What I did was adjusted the sound settings in the Control Panel. I click Sounds. Click Communications Tab. Under When Windows Detects Communication Activity: Select Mute all other sounds. I hope that other people will find this fix helpful.
