    "Speeds Window" most reallistic configuration.

    Hey guys!

I am finally beginning to count the cards while playing CVBJ. I am beginning at third base with two more players.

I would like to know what would be a reallistic "speeds window" configuration for a "normal" dealer with "normal" players.
Is leaving the slider button at the middle for all speeds the correct answer?

Although I have no idea how it is in actual casino situations, it seems a little slow.
I know I have to start slowly (and I am), but I would like to gauge how slow I am comparing to reality.

I thank you in advance for any help!

Speeds vary enormously by table. What you really want to do is set the speeds faster and faster as you become more proficient, both to increase the hands/hour practiced and to make it easier to spend time chatting when in the casino.

Yes, I will do that, thank you. Very slowly, but I will do that.

Last night I practiced physical counting drills, actually couting down a deck and saying out loud the last card's tag value. I used my cellphone's stopwatch to time the drills.

I did 14 consecutive runs with a mean of 23.49 sec and stdev of 1.13 sec. I always read that you should be able to count a deck below 30 sec to be able to do it in real life.

Well, I say that (at least for me) one thing has nothing to do with the other. As soon as I began trying to count while playing CVBJ, I was completely LOST!!

But I am improving.... like a turtle, but I am....

    Best!

I have found that with the dealer speed clicked up two notches past the middle, it most accurately represents "real life" play 99% of the time. You won't believe how many pauses there are during normal play, I'm finding CVBJ an excellent tool to continue refining my skills - and I'm now able to successfully keep the count at the casino (without moving my lips and actually having those camoflauge side conversations).

    Thanks a lot jbuck!

Your post made me realize only now that the slider slides by notches, I was sliding it little by little with the mouse
Sliding it by discrete amounts is much better for tracking performance.

I see now that I was setting it to little past one click to the right of the middle. Only the payoffs I put around three clicks to the right.

And CVBJ is indeed a GREAT practicing tool! And my wife as well, cause she never stops talking... great "camoflauge side conversations" practice !!

    Best of luck!
