The only $10 table in the place...

So I really love this little casino that I found. It has some of the best rules and the best penetration. The only problem is, like all casinos in my area, it is pretty small. There is only one blackjack pit and many times there are only 2-3 tables open and they are all a $5 minimum (there is also usually a $10 table with 2 decks but I never sit there because I am thinking that it is a potential trap for CC's and they only deal half the deck anyway).
So last Thursday evening, I was playing as usual and I couldn't help but notice that they opened up a $10 table. I desperately wanted to sit there because I know that it is unlikely that anybody else will sit with me, hence more hands per hour. I decide to go for it and it turns out to be quite the hot table. Positive counts galore and most hands going my way.
My question is, would you guys be nervous as an AP when you know that there is only one $10 table at a small joint and you are the only one sitting at it? I didn't mind doing it once, but if they have one open from now on and I always play at it alone, I feel that I am almost begging for surveillance to watch me. I depend heavily on ratholing because I have to play rated at this place in order to play. However, that night I was winning so much so quickly that I didn't even get a chance to hide any chips. My max bet is 8 units and I drink beer while playing in order to camouflage a little (a little alcohol has no effect on my counting).

    So what do you think?

Spreading 10 - 80 shouldn't cause you much discomfort, except in the sweatiest places. This sounds like a joint where a $10 minimum makes you the house whale - and getting a heads up or close to heads up game will maximize your hph. The other issue, of course, is how fast you ramp, a decision which the house will make note of and which will positively or negatively affect some of your performance measurements.

This sounds like a long term store for you, so the best advice I can pass on is to be cognizant of house tolerance. I recall 1 joint I used to plat at (a long time ago) where the house went ape **** at $100.00, but didn't say boo at 2x90. Try to get a handle on that number and whale away.

Who owns the casino? Are they part of a larger corporation or are they a locally owned operation? Are the dealers and management locals or are they experienced operators from another part of the country? How are this casino's financials looking - are they making more money now than last year or are they struggling to maintain profits? The answers to these questions are in the public record and that information should help you gauge their likely tolerance to winning activity and help you guide your actions going forward. Here's an article written by Bill Zender for small casinos that might give you an idea of what sort of mindset you might be facing:

Thank you for the link! It was good to see them teaching not to be so fearful of the counters. As to your question, the casinos are indian joints and very much local.

I would just play it hard and HU as much as possible. Back offs are inevitable anyway but you can at least get more EV in this way. Rathole hard if you are playing rated and learn the tolerance levels.

    biggg,

Pardon my ignorance, but what does HU mean?

It looks like HU means Heads Up -- ie: Just you vs the dealer [no other players].

best cover is to drink beer without taking any in. Just put the beer up to ur mouth and pretend you're drinking. Works best with the see through glass corona or whatever beer they have because they can tell its alcohol. If it's see through glass, take a sip here and there, so the bottle doesnt stay full in case the pit or the eye is paying attention to that, which is unlikely

A little alcohol doesn't keep me from playing. It keeps me from winning, but I can play for as long as when I'm not drinking.

Ill bet that two deck game has bad rules such as only double on 10-11 or only pays 5:6 on BJ .no mid shoe entry....
assumptions are the mother of all mistakes.

When playing heads up, it is not effective to rat hole as the pit has a count for the tray and when you leave it is really easy to determine what happened. Rat holing is most effective when several other players at your table are coming and going and/or playing with the same chip denomination you are rat holing. Rat holing black chips on a green games is the same issue. Rat holing chips and then going to the cage and emptying your pockets is another bad idea.

Great way to rat hole is have your wife/girlfriend come by your table and take a handful of chips with some comment about going to play craps, keno, slots,/??. ***** and moan (quietly) about it and comment that you don't even know what she took. Chances are pit didn't see it and dealer won't remember it.

Just think about what the pit is managing and how you can avoid the detection. In the end, rated cumulative win is cumulative win and it will bite you.
Luck is nothing more than probability taken personally!

Great tip Stealth, now if we can convince said partner to NOT cash out those beautiful greens/blacks or even purples.
