    Counting Errors

During mid-shoe if I happened to completely miss seeing a players cards for any reason, as long as I have not made a change to my RC, this situation is basically the same as lessening penetration by 3-4 cards?
Missing the first deal of a new shoe?

After writing this it feels like a dumb question, just want confirmation.

Correct -- it's just like having worse penetration. Just be sure that when you estimate the decks in discard tray, that you subtract out how many cards you missed. (ie: You come up to a game that already has half a deck played...Just remember that a few decks later, when you see 3 decks in the tray (and 3 behind the cut card), there are really 2.5 decks in the tray and 3.5 decks behind the cut card...since you missed the first 0.5 decks.)
