    Wong in?

Hey guys im new to the forum and new to counting I have lots of questions so please dont flame me. Ive read that there is such a thing as counting cards while watching the table but not playing (Wonging I think). Ive tryed to do this but I find that I have to be pretty close to the table to see the cards does this not draw heat from the pit boss? How long do you guys watch the table before walking away or playing?

Once you are proficient at your standard counting practice, order a deck of cards from Amazon without the index numbers in the corners. Now, start practicing with those, so you can start counting simply by the pips on the cards.

This will help greatly with recognition from a distance.

This practice will be beneficial for other techniques, as well.

Cvbj has this feature as well, but be sure to include practice with actual cards in your regimen.

Back Counting (counting cards from outside the table) and Wonging In (entering the game when you have an Advantage) can be something of an art to be efficient and not draw heat. If the count doesn't go positive within three or four rounds (depending on number of players) then I would move on. It helps if you can develop the skills and behaviors to count adjacent tables simultaneously. If you're a beginner and are playing in crowded conditions, at the low stakes, red chip, tables, I wouldn't worry too much about heat just yet. Focus on running count, deck estimation, and true count accuracy.

Get a copy of BlackJack Attack 2005 edition aka BJA3. It is a must own for any counter. Each chapter will increase your bottom line. I think Chapter 13, New Answers To Old Questions, is devoted to this topic. The answer depends on a number of this like current depth in the shoe, where the cut card is, is another table about to start a fresh shoe and the count. If you order the book soon (the reprint just came out yesterday) you will save around $5 getting it at about $25 instead of around $30.

I find that if its actually crowded you usually can't get a good enough angle to see the cards unless you stand close. Where I play gamblers watch tables all the time although I'm not sure how many actually end up betting. The big tip is to just leave if the tc goes low. Keep moving. You are never as obvious as you think.

Playing all sucks so bad that its not worth playing if I can't backcount in the shoe games. Make them back you off I say.

In my experience the heat is never that bad at casinos that actually offer mid shoe entry anyway.

Wong in at 0.5% and back out at -1.0% and you're doing two things.

    1. Knocking out 75% to 80% of all of those waiting bets that you make while betting table minimum thus showing your true spread to the pit crew
    2. Making your apparent spread (most of the time) appear to be 1-4 or 1-5. For shoes this means heat free play.
