my buddy was telling me about a side bet where, if the dealer busts with 7 cards, you get 100:1. is this beatable? what kind of count would be recommended?
Not only is a 7 card bust rare, but this is, IMHO, uncountable.
Abundant High Cards will produce almost no hands with more than 4 cards;
A scarcity of High Cards will create multi-card hands, but still rarely exceeding 5 cards.
Besides, you'd be long gone from the table at a very low T.C.

I almost posted on this but wasn't really sure about my view. You needs lots of low cards to make a 6 card stiff and a high card (6 or higher) to bust it. The two forces you need to coexist work against one another. The more likely you become to get a 6 card stiff the less likely you are to bust it. One 6 and you need a 5 card 10 to still have a stiff. Of course if the dealer hits soft 17 that is a big help toward getting that 6 card stiff. In my area I have to travel far to get to H17 games.
