    Las vegas advice needed

I have an upcoming visit to Las Vegas (arrive late Thursday, depart early Sunday) and expect to just play on two days or about 24 hours total. Is that reasonable? Second question is if I plan to pay $10 minimum, $100 max bet, how much $$$ should I take with me on the plane? 5K, 10K or 15K? Just want to make sure I do not go broke before the trip is over. Given that its Friday and Saturday and $10 min tables may be hard to find, should I play the $25 minimum tables? If $25 minimum tables, my max bet would be about $150 so 6 Deck is out, just DD. In this case, how much BR should I take with me?

Recommendations on where I could stay where I have easy access to games without driving from one casino to another? Downtown or the strip? I have offers via Ameristar for discounted rooms at various strip properties (Excalibur, Luxor to a bit higher).

    Advice appreciated.

If you can afford to max bet 150, why not spread 5/10-150?

Because $5 to $150 will result in his getting tapped on the shoulder.

    R. O. R. is a real issue. For a newbie it would be too much to bet.

Almost the only $5 minimum games worth playing will be found at the various STATION properties, such as Palace Station.

Playing on the weekend ~ on the strip ~ you'll not see ANY tables offering less than $25 minimums.

Is $25 to $200 an acceptable spread for DD in Vegas? No shoulder tap?

I doubt you can get away long with that spread. In any case, what sort of BR does one need for that spread? I am also hoping for more specifics on where to play and stay.

    Answer to your question:

Using deductive learning if your max bet is $100 from the choice you provided. Take 5K with you. If you are playing for two days and plan to play 24 hours total. It is long sessions. To me that is not reasonable because you are talking about 12 hours a day. It is too long consecutively. I would not play $25 minimum table if your risk of ruin is not within five percent.

I think you also need to answer what type of player you are. If you are not a professional gambler, you can take a higher risk of ruin than others (more of a rec player looking to play solid BJ with AP; isn't detrimental if you lost roll). Have heard you would have to keep sessions very short if you were going to try 1-8 spread. I am in the same boat as you...trying to figure what I need and where to play. There is a trip bankroll formula on bj21 http://bj21.com/bj_reference/pages/10525.html

You'll notice I included 10 as a possible minimum. IMO 10-100 and 10-150 doesn't make much difference. If you are going for 2 days and playing bad to mediocre game quality, and can't spread 1-15 red chipping, you're wasting your time.

Alone in town, 6 hours sleep and say 4 hours for meals and breaks, 2 hours in driving to and walking into casinos, leaves me 12 hours in 24 to play. When young, I used to easily do this, I think 12 per day for two days is possible.

I would rather play $10-$100 on 6 deck shoes but Its quite busy and it may be easier finding $25 DD games. The plan is to start out at $10, if ahead or even, I would go to $25 on my last few hours.

This is even more support for a bigger spread. Once you show it, move on.

I don't know your home casino situation, but coming from AC, I find the LV Strip an inefficient place to play. You may have grand plans for the number of hours you'll be playing, but don't be surprised or disappointed if you only get 50% of your expected play in.

Driving from Strip casino to Strip casino takes a lot of time due to traffic, the vast size of the parking garages, and the long walk getting from your parking spot to the playing areas. Don't forget to write down where you parked or take a picture of the nearest locator with your cell phone. It's easy to "lose" your car.

I usually divide the Strip into 2 sections - south and mid (there's no BJ worth playing north of Mirage). One day, I'll park at MGM for the day and cover the south end by walking and taking the MB/Excalibur tram. Another day, I'll park at Caesars or PH and cover that section by walking and using the Bellagio/Aria tram.

For your level of play, you should be mostly off-Strip at Stations, Boyds, etc.
