The real reason casinos switch dealer from table to table?

What is it? If i was to guess, it would be to keep burning cards to try and burn as many high cards in case it is a positive count, or maybe their ploppy logic, to mess up the flow of the cards lol. What is the real reason because I dont buy it, that they constantly go on 20 min breaks.

Bizarre thought processes. There's a whiff of paranoia, to understate the case.

Casino dealers normally work 40 minutes out of each 60 minute hour.

Just dont believe it lol.. Ok lets say they do work 40 minutes out of each hour, why is that so? Why do casinos do that to their employees? There is some underlying reason and I think it has to do with what I said above. I also think it could have to do to fish out counters asking to see the next burn card, etc.

Why do casinos give their dealers breaks? Why do you think?

But, son, do not take this bet, for if you do, as sure as you are standing there, you are going to end up with an ear full of cider."

To keep them fresh so they don't make simple payment errors very often. It costs them little to do so compared to potential errors considering they pay them all $8 an hour. It doesn't seem like it would be that difficult, but in the current environment casinos in Vegas are hiring virtually all new dealers to work three occasionally four days a week to avoid any benefits and any full timer quits they hire two part timers. This leads to most dealers at all but the best jobs in town working two jobs to make ends meet, and frequent double shifts on weekends. Its easy to see how making more payment errors would occur if dealers where on their feet sixteen hours in a day, making frequent breaks necessary.

They don't want the same dealer vs the same patron for any substantial length of time. (or vice versa). In casinos where the dealer keeps their own tokes it also allows each dealer to pressure patrons to tip every 20 minutes. (psychological pressure to avoid becoming a stiff patron by not tipping a dealer). Thus more tips are generated. When these casinos begin closing tables you sometimes see the dealers rotate every 5 or 10 minutes.

Not every casino burns a card. I know many casinos that all you, when heads up, to request "No Burn".

Many good answers. But, in my mind, some of it’s really just business. Why do they constantly shift the cashiers in my grocery store? I hate it, ‘cause they have to bring in new trays, count all the cash, etc. Basically, they don’t trust their own employees. And the grocery has to pause constantly for a manager to come by with an override card to correct an err. Plus, middle-managers have to prove that they are actually doing something useful. Huge amounts of time wasted. When you consider the real-estate costs on Las Vegas Strip, or New York City grocery stores, it’s short-sited. That’s life.

Dealers usually get 60 min work then 20 min breaks. That also means they have to eat their food in 20 minutes (minus walking time). A "normal" rotation is when 3 dealers will be on 3 tables for 60 minutes each, with a "breaker" who deals at each of the 3 tables for 20 minutes during that table dealer's break. Dealing for 60 minutes isn't bad. But once the dealer hits the 80 minute+ mark, he'll be getting tired and will make mistakes (which only happens if the schedule gets messed up OR a dealer gets "locked in" and doesn't have a breaker). It's just how it is. Rubber-band (4 dealers working 3 tables, 20min each) can be used in cases for scheduling purposes, as not all dealers will start at the beginning of a given shift (day, swing, grave). Or if they have 3 dealers for 2 tables (20 at table 1, 20 at table 2, then 20 min break).

I've always thought errors are a much larger factor than commonly thought. I've run sims -- but only based on assumptions. I have no real idea of actual error rates and types, both dealer and player errors, and errors that help and hurt. Anecdotally, there is strong evidence that dealer errors are far more common now than decades back, because of casino expansion and the huge increase in carnival games.

I like when they pay your max bet BJ because they forgot to check for an ace under the T. Then discover they have BJ and decide do let the mistake stand to see if surveillance is paying attention. That is one of my favorite mistakes. Surveillance is never paying attention. LOL
