    Soft 12

I am going to a casino that has this somewhat ususual rule: No RSA, but you can double. I have heard of it, but it seems pretty uncommon. I am not 100% what this means...if you can double before or after they give you the card. I am assuming it is after. So this could lead to a soft 12 situation. I do not know whether or not this is a basic strategy double against a 6 or not, in a H17 game. Further, I would appreciate the indices for the 5 and 6. I would appreciate it if someone could share this info. Also, if anyone is familiar with this rule and it turns out you must double BEFORE the card, I am wondering if you would not double against the Ace as BS (I doubt that would be the rule, makes no sense to quadruple your initial bet off the bat).

So you split and then have a chance to double before getting another card, or are you doubling only a soft 12? If the former is the case, I would assume you would consider your hand an 11 and double accordingly. I really have no idea what you just tried to explain though.

I am not so sure you would double if it was before the card because you have have a soft hand, not a hard hand. I doubt this is the case, you probably double after.Let me say it again. The rule is No RSA. However, you can double. That is all they said...I should have asked for more detail. My best guess is it means you can get as many cards as you want on your ace; you are not limited to one card. Which would mean I need to know what to do on a soft 12.

    Rainmaker,

This sounds like the "Double on Split Aces" rule, which has been analyzed by the WoO: see http://wizardofodds.com/games/blackjack/appendix/20/

    Hope this helps!

Dog Hand, Thank you! This turns out to be the exact rule I was talking about. But looking at this chart, I am confused, and I am hoping someone can clear this up. Basic strategy for an H17 game is to double soft 18 v. 2 and soft 19 v. 6. This chart tells you to stand. Can anyone address that? Is it an error?
