    Cvindex

I purchased CVBJ/CVDATA couple months ago.
I'm just starting to use CVDATA and trying to run Indexes.
I admit I am not computer savvy. More than likely I'M either missing something or doing something wrong.
When the sim is done it produces a report.
My question is can it generate a standard hit/stand/dd/split chart?

Yes. There is a little box on the lower left hand side of the main simulation page where you click the boxes for the decisions you want generated. Then under the rules make sure double after split is selected and it will generate indexes for both DAS and N-DAS. The index chart can be then found under "User Strategies" under the name of the Strategy you created.

    Great. Thank You BP.

Just to be clear I mean a chart that looks like a normal Basic Strategy Layout.

No, I don't think you'll get that. You have separate tables to view for stiffs, softs, doubles, splits, and modification tables for DAS and ENHC, depending on what you chose to generate. If you want to have a chart in a "familiar" basic strategy layout, you'll have to use the data from these different tables and make it yourself. Oh well, would be a nice feature though.

The table that you have generated gives the e.v. at different True Counts

for hit / stand / double (split for pairs) and the e.v. differences thereof.

You can derive the index for a play by finding the minimum T.C. where

violating Basic Strategy increases the e.v. of the hand match-up.

e.g. If you look at 16 vs. 10 you will see that hitting at a T C of -1 is best,

while surrendering 16 vs. 10 will be perhaps -2 (depending on the count employed)

indicating that unless there is a T.C. of -3 or worse you are better off hitting than surrendering.

There are basic strategy charts on various internet websites. Download them and then substitute in the index numbers you generated. Alternatively use Microsoft Excel or another spreadsheet program and create your own and then shrink the font down to get it to the size you need and change the colors of the numbers for effect and go to Walgreens or Office Depot and buy some self-lamininating adhesive pouches and seal them up...or if you want real lamination go to a Fed-Ex Kinko's or Office Depot and let them use a real laminating machine to seal up your product.

Thanks bigplayer that's another great idea.

This was my first attempt and when it was generating the indexes it does so on a chart.
I thought that's how it would print out.

CVIndex will print out charts. But, in separate tables. It does this for flexibility. It is possible to have two indices, for two different situations, for the same hand.

On the Playing strategy tab, click Attach Strategy. Click Display Tables. Click on the blue printer icon.
